Why You’ll Love It

BioBag Tall Kitchen waste bags are sized equivalent to regular plastic bags and fit most kitchen waste cans. This sturdy bag is perfect for collecting food waste, paper and other biodegradable packaging items. Our tall kitchen bags are also great for collecting outdoor waste from small gardening areas. Most communities have designated days for yard and compostable waste pick-up. Check to see if there is a program in your area. All BioBag products are “shelf stable”, just like paper plates or paper towels. BioBags will not decompose until they are introduced to the earth’s elements or micro-organisms in the soil. Extended heat can make the BioBags feel soft and may eventually cause splitting. We recommend storage in a dry, cool area.

About This Brand

BioBag® is a world leader in providing bags and films for the collection of organic waste for the purpose of composting. Our mission is to keep organic waste from ever entering a landfill. Unlike regular plastic bags, BioBags are made from a resin derived from plants, vegetable oils and compostable polymers and can be consumed by micro-organisms that live in our soils. Because of this, our BioBags can be readily composted along with organic waste at municipal composting facilities. BioBag isn’t a large petroleum-based plastic bag company that now conveniently dabbles in the new world of compostable bags. We are, instead, a small company of dedicated employees, who are fully committed to ONLY producing certified compostable bags and films. It’s All We Do!BioBag Americas is a fully-owned subsidiary of BioBag International (Norway) with headquarters in Dunedin, Florida. Reviews For 13 Gallon Tall Kitchen Waste Bags

Based on 9 Reviews

Broke on first use

At the time I used these I was on a juice fast so my trash consisted of used paper towels and left over pulp from my juicer. After three days I went to remove the trash to take outside and the bag completely tore apart and all the waste dumped into the trash can.... I don't know if I used them wrong, but needless to say, I won't order them again.

hard to get out of basket

The plastic is kind of sticky so it sticks to the sides of my basket. It's hard to pull out and sometimes in the process a hole will rip in the side. I will still buy them but they need care in taking them out of the basket.

Requires some Thought

These definitely require some thought to them. While wetness (like water) doesn't seem to break them down, any type of moisture from bodily fluids will break them down pretty easily. That means all of my attempts to use this for cat litter and diapers has completely destroyed them before I even got to take them out. I've been using regular plastic for my bodily waste bags, and these go out on a twice-weekly schedule for the rest of the house's garbage. This takes a bit of effort on my part, but I'm happy that less plastic is going into the environment. I just wish the bags weren't quite THIS efficient at composting!

Works Quite Well

I love the idea of biodegradable bags. Using trash bags has always bothered me and worried me because I hate throwing more waste into the environment. These have worked just fine for me. We don't throw away anything too heavy or pointy, and we've never had anything break on us. They hold a decent amount of stuff, and they easily go into the community trash can for waste removal. Nothing too fancy here.

13-Gal size tears immediately

I've used the smaller bags for pet waste with no problem, but every single one of these kitchen bags tore right out of the box. They just peeled apart at the seam, no matter how gently I handled them. Other reviewers seem to like them for composting, so maybe that's the ticket.

Doing my part for the environment

Honestly, I'm just kind of tired of plastic products, and I'm trying to recycle as much as I can. These bags aren't less durable than the standard ones I buy, but I like that I can take them to a compost facility and that they won't end up in a landfill. It's a bit more expensive than what I buy at Target, but being environmental conscious isn't always going to be cheap. I'm just glad Thrive makes it easy to eat healthy and to buy green products at a great discount.

Could Be Great

These are a really, really neat idea, and I've loved using them. I think I'd love them more in a small bathroom size than this full-size kitchen size. They hold a decent amount of garbage, and I haven't had any problem with them breaking because of weight. However, the bag does start to decompost when it gets really wet. Depending on what type of garbage you throw out, this can be a problem. It hasn't been a serious issue as of yet, but we had two times where we went to take out the trash and the garbage bag had some seeming "neat" holes where it looked like the bag had started breaking down. Great bags, but we just have to be conscious of what we put in them.

Eco Friendly

These bags are great! They do break if too much is put in them, but it isn't a general issue. In our area they don't do compost pick up, but I am able to compost on my own and once the food begins to decompose I mix it with soil and water and the bags decompose rather quickly. These are so eco-friendly and make composting extremely easy since now I don't have to run left over foods or rotten foods outside every time and I can just peel right into the bag. It is great! I love these bags and feel great knowing I am helping protect our planet by both composting and using biodegradable bags!

It is a very good product.

I like this particular waste bag because they are compostable, so I would be able to help the environment. They tear easily when you put so many things on them but it is expected of a compoundable bag. It is a very good product.
