Staggering Statistic: How Old Is That Apple?

Last Update: March 9, 2020

According to Martin Lindstrom’s book Brandwashed: Tricks Companies Use to Manipulate Our Minds and Persuade Us to Buy, the produce we see in grocery store bins can be anywhere from days to months old.

Take apples, for instance. The average supermarket apple has been off the tree for a whopping 14 months.

Would you call that fresh?
