Go Raw is a producer of tasty, raw vegan snacks with more than 50 varieties of seed-based products. Each is made with some of the highest quality ingredients and then cooked at a low temperature to preserve the powerful nutrients and enzymes inside. Go Raw makes it easy to snack without worry since they believe in making honest, wholesome foods that are as delicious as they are nutritious.
How Go Raw got started
Go Raw began selling their sprouted seed products at farmers markets in 2002. Initially believing that they would be selling to a very niche market, they actually discovered that their healthy snacks were an enormous hit, so they began to expand production.
Growing from a 900-square-foot retail space in San Diego to a 65,000-square-foot solar-powered plant in San Jose, Go Raw has been booming. While they’ve become a big name in plant-based nutrition, that doesn’t mean Go Raw has compromised their values. Honest ingredients and creativity still remain just as important to them, even as they continue to grow and develop this raw vegan snack line.
Making it easy to eat responsibly
For many people, eating well may be a challenge. Many foods that taste good and seem to be healthy can also have chemical preservatives, added sugars, or other unrecognizable ingredients. That’s why it’s important to only go with foods that have ingredients you know and can pronounce.
As such, Go Raw makes it easy to see what you’re eating—every ingredient is clearly listed on the package, along with the health benefits and serving suggestions. Each ingredient is also organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, and has no added sugar, so you can snack without worry. But that’s not all—these snacks taste seriously good and come in different delicious flavors, such as pizza, banana bread, apple cinnamon, spirulina, and more.
How Go Raw snacks are made
Go Raw’s product line takes advantage of the nutritionally dense nature of seeds. All seeds are put through an optical sorter several times to ensure maximum purity. Then they’re rinsed three times in filtered water, soaked, sprouted, and mixed with other organic ingredients. Next, the seeds are hand-spread onto trays, put into custom-built dehydrators, and dried at an average temperature of 98 degrees. Then the finished products are packed and sealed in-house, ready to be shipped out and eaten.
Raw diets are based on the principle that exposing foods to high heat can destroy many of the enzymes and nutrients inside. Foods are considered raw when they’re cooked under 105 degrees Fahrenheit. By gently drying these snacks at 98 degrees, Go Raw is able to preserve their raw nature and provide optimal nutritive benefits.
A raw diet is often rich in:
- Enzymes to assist in breaking down food
- Nutrients like protein, vitamins, and minerals
- Phytonutrients that may help fight free radicals
- Dietary fiber to assist in keeping blood sugar stable and aid in digestion
More about sprouted seeds
Go Raw washes and sprouts their seeds prior to mixing them with flavoring ingredients—but why? By sprouting and gently dehydrating the seeds, it unlocks and preserves more powerful nutrients. This process also multiplies available proteins, enzymes, and minerals, making good food easier to digest and allowing the nutrients to be more easily absorbed by the body.
