REFINE BY
At Thrive Market, we adore nut butters so much that it’s easy to forget about the O.G.—peanut butter! For many of us, this spread was our gateway into the wonderful world of nut butters. So if you’ve been eschewing peanut butter in favor of cashew butter, almond butter, or even hazelnut butter, don’t forget about PB, the old stand-by. There’s a lot to love about this pantry staple. If you take a look at Thrive Market Organic Peanut Butter, you’ll find numerous health benefits in each serving, including 3g of dietary fiber, 8g of protein, plus calcium and iron. Sandwiches are a staple, but peanut butter can also enrich savory stews, curries, and of course, make an irresistible cookie batter.
How to Make Peanut Butter
If you haven’t tried making your own peanut butter before, here’s an easy recipe to try. If this is your first time making nut butter, be sure to stick with it until the end. At the beginning, the mix will look dry and crumbly, but the longer the blender runs, the more it’ll start breaking down and looking like the peanut butter you know and love. For a basic butter, you’ll want 2 cups of shelled peanuts and ½ teaspoon salt. For added flavor, toast the nuts before you blend them. You can also add sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. Add the peanuts to a food processor and process for 1 minute. Stop and scrape down the bowl (remember, it’ll look pretty gritty at this point) then process for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the butter has transformed into a creamy spread.
