Water kefir

Very good

This was simple. I had kefir in 24 hours. I just put a jar of whole milk and one package of grains in a mason jar and put paper towel over the lid and waited. It’s fun.

no luck

I just couldn't get these to go. I'm not sure if it was the sugar I used (I tried a few) or if it was the bottle I was putting it in, or some other variable.

Kefir grains

I’ve been wanting to try to make kefir water and fermented fruit for a few months now, haven’t tried the finished product but so far so good!

Maybe I got damaged grains

I often share my excess grains with friends and family, but I recently had none to give when my mom asked for some. I got my starter grains from this exact kit, purchased off the company’s website, and they have been going strong for years. I’ve also started a couple kits for friends. I figured I’d order some here (save a few bucks) and get them hydrated and ready for my mom. I have not gotten any fermentation after 5 batches. I hydrated them according to instructions and use only spring water. I’ve also been using a heating mat to maintain water temp. I did not have this issue with my grains in the past, so I can’t understand the problem. Maybe I got a bad batch, but I’m bummed I wasted my time and $$$, and my mom still doesn’t have what she needs to produce her own water kefir.

prolific

i enjoyed using these grains for a few years (only had to purchase them once) and they were prolific. i even moved cross country with them and they survived... but they eventually died here due to less than ideal conditions in the apartment. i look forward to trying them again in my next home.

I love this stuff!

I love water kefir due to the ease of making it, its variety of beneficial flora, deliciousness and carbonation! I quit sodas and sugar so I drink these with a little honey and juice from a variety of fruits for flavor and don't even miss the sodas! I keep it going on my kitchen counter constantly, cycling every two days and it has, so far, worked brilliantly for many months at a time with consistent use. Honey increases the carbonation too!

The product was well packaged and arrived promptly. Followed all the instructions step by step. The grains were well rehydrated but nothing happened. Discarded the whole solution along with the grains after multiple attempts. Not sure what went wrong. Please help since I bought multiple packs for my extended family too!!

Mold factory! Gross!

I live in a very dry climate and have a VERY clean kitchen (and no pets). However, mold has grown with every batch that I've tried to make! I've wasted too much money with "mixers" (tea, juice, and coconut water) that I've had to throw out. Super frustrated. The website says to spray white vinegar on the cheesecloth to prevent mold. I will try that one last time, however, I don't think it's my house that is the problem.

Easy and healthy

I just bottled my first batch! The directions in this are very easy to follow. It's much cheaper to make this at home than to buy in the store. I like that I am able to know exactly what is going into this and how it tastes is up to you. After you ferment your first batch you can add flavoring and let it sit for another day for carbonation. I do not drink soda but I'd like to have a little bit of carbonation once in a while and this is a great alternative!

Awesome!

I am notoriously bad at following directions (last time I bought IKEA furniture, I paid someone to build it for me- horrible, I know) but this was easy! and delicious! We're on our third bottle of kefir and it's paid for itself twice over. It's easy to take breaks from it by throwing it in the fridge or just have a constant supply of kefir. The flavor combinations are limited only by your imagination. I've had a few questions and their customer service is amazing. I just asked questions on their Facebook page and they answered it next business day. I highly recommend this product!

Water Kefir Grains

I bought them on the 7th, it is the 20th and they aren't working yet. Some minimal action so far after changing water every two days. You may wonder at my 5 star rating on a product that isn't working. I am confident that if they don't end up performing they will make sure I have a satisfactory experience in the end.

Nice!

Since I've brewed kefir before, I was a little skeptical about the dried grains, but tried them and glad I did. They didn't smell bad from when I opened them from shipping, like wet grains do. They plumped right up after activation and I am now enjoying some good, fresh water kefir and saving a lot of money not buying bottled store kefir. My favorite flavors are ginger (kind of like a ginger ale flavor) and lemon! Nice product!

It turned out to be easy to use, and I’ve made so many wonderful flavors of Kefir, including almond ‘milk’ kefir which I adore, (almond milk not being really milk of course) and my grains just keep making more wondrous batches!
