Why You’ll Love Organic Baby Mild Castile Liquid Soap
Dr. Bronner’s is one of the most well-known purveyors of Castile soap. For five generations, the family owned-and-operated company has made high-quality cleansers and other household products with all-natural, plant-based ingredients. As such, they have become popular among those searching for chemical-free and vegan alternatives to other brands.Dr. Bronner’s soaps come in a variety of natural scents, including almond and lavender, but for an even more gentle cleanser for babies, children, or anyone sensitive to fragrances, this 32 fl. oz. Unscented Baby-Mild Castile Liquid Soap is an ideal choice.
Benefits of Castile soap
The name refers to olive oil-based soaps developed in Spain’s Castile region for centuries. The roots of Castille soap actually extend back to the time of the Crusades, when it was brought from the Aleppo region to Europe. It has remained popular ever since for its incredible versatility, cleansing and moisturizing capabilities, natural plant-based ingredients, and environmentally-friendly formulas.
Here are just some of the main ingredients in Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby-Mild Castile Liquid Soap and how they work to nourish your skin after each use:
- Olive oil: Olive oil has high levels of naturally-occurring fats as well as vitamin E, which makes it an effective moisturizing agent that has restorative qualities to promote good skin tone. Even better, Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby-Mild Castile Liquid Soap contains double the olive oil of their other liquid Castile soaps.
- Jojoba oil: Jojoba oil is the only vegetable oil that closely resembles human sebum, the waxy substance produced by skin glands for natural protection. This unique quality makes it one of the world’s most effective products for conditioning and strengthening skin and hair.
- Coconut oil: Coconut oil is a natural antimicrobial, which, combined with its hyper moisturizing qualities, helps heal skin irritations like eczema or a baby’s diaper rash—and also prevents new cases from occurring. It’s able to soak through the top layers of skin, getting to the root of the problem. And because of the organic qualities, it’s ideal for the most sensitive skin types.
Dr. Bronner’s Castile soaps are non-toxic, which is not only good for you and your family, but also the environment. The pure formula contains no chemicals or fragrances that might be harmful to nature once they enter the water system. And because they come in biodegradable bottles made of 100 percent post-consumer recycled materials, that means less packaging waste as well.
The many ways to use Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby-Mild Castile Liquid Soap
Dr. Bronner’s has often referred to their soaps as 18-in-1 because there are so many uses. Here are just some of the ways it’s become so versatile, especially useful for any household with babies and children.
- Body wash: Dr Bronner’s Unscented Baby-Mild Castile Liquid Soap is best used as a body wash. Place a small amount on a washcloth and it will lather up extremely well, leaving you with a tingly clean feeling. Because this soap doesn’t contain any synthetic chemicals and is completely organic, it’s also gentle on baby’s sensitive skin.
- Shampoo: Although Dr. Bronner's makes a shampoo specifically for hair, many people still prefer to use the soap for this purpose since olive oil is so moisturizing. Squeeze a tablespoon-sized portion into your hands and then work into wet hair. The baby-mild formula also makes it a “no tears” product for the little ones, too.
- Soothing vaporizer: Not feeling well? Dr. Bronner is in! Place a tablespoon of the castile liquid soap into a bowl of steaming hot water. Then, drape a towel over your head and breathe in the cleansing mist for several minutes. You’ll soon feel as good as new.
- Laundry detergent: For a decent size load of laundry, use a half-cup of this liquid soap as detergent and marvel as clothes come out of the washer looking remarkably clean and smelling fresh. It also is gentle enough for cloth diapers and baby blankets, too.
- Dish soap: If you want to wash dishes with Dr. Bronner’s soap, first dilute it with ten parts water. This application works best when hand-washing dishes with a scrub brush and is not recommended for a dishwasher.
- Mop solution: Pour a half-cup of soap into three gallons of hot water and get to scrubbing for an impeccably clean floor.
- Window cleaner: For spotless and streak-free panes, add a tablespoon of soap and a quart of water into a spray bottle and use like you would Windex.
- Toy cleaner: Babies like to put things in their mouths, whether they belong there or not, which is why it’s important to wash toys with a non-toxic cleaner. Add Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby-Mild Castile Liquid Soap to a bucket of water, and soak plastic or wooden baby toys to kill any lingering bacteria—just make sure to rinse off thoroughly.
- Antibacterial wipes: Here’s a handy trick—cut up old T-shirts and soak them in an airtight container containing a mixture of one ounce of Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby-Mild Castile Liquid Soap, a cup of water, and a few drops of peppermint essential oil (which has natural antibacterial properties). Store in a cool place, and use the wipes as needed for hands and face or even countertops.
More about Dr. Bronner’s
Dr. Bronner’s is one of the oldest soap makers, around since 1858 and today run by the fifth generation of the Bronner family. In 1929, Emanuel Bronner brought his formulas from Old World Europe to America, and by the 1960s, the high-quality liquid and bar soaps were the number-one natural brand sold in all of North America. This was sparked by the ecological quality and Emanuel Bronner’s message of unity across religious and ethnic divides, which led to the company’s motto, “All-One.” Today, that spirit continues with creating certified organic and fair trade personal care products that continue the time-honored simplicity that has always been at the heart of Dr. Bronner’s.
Reviews For Organic Baby Mild Castile Liquid Soap

perfect all purpose soap!
I originally got this to make dog shampoo and it worked perfectly! My dog has never been cleaner or had better skin. I also use it to make hand soap and face cleanser. Works well for all of my uses. I love that this is unscented so I can add different essential oils depending on what I'm using it for.
love Dr bonner soap
I use it for everything!
best soap ever!
I love Dr. Bronner's and have been using this exact soap for years. I normally use peppermint but my family likes it when I buy the baby mild and add wild orange essential oil to it.
My basic face and body soap
ALL GOOD. I use it on both face and body.
Love this frangrance free Castile soap for all my DIY's.
Good at getting rid of oil
This liquid soap is better at getting rid of oily hands than anything that I have used before. It is also very mild and does not dry out or irritate my sensitive skin.
Bought to make personal items.
Doesn't take much product.
Best price I have found.
I love this soap because I can use it as shampoo and as a body wash. It is mild and great for my skin, and doesn't smell of anything too strong. I use it everyday! And it is especially good for my scalp which tends to be itchy. I also used this on my infant daughter, who is now 8, as she was diagnosed very early with psoriasis. After a few weeks of using it she has never had a problem with her skin.

My new favorite thing
Purchased 5 bottles ( one in each scent that Thrive carries). Using it to replace toxic household cleaners and beauty products..family teases me about my new soap addiction...please please carry the other scents soon...good price here on the site too!
my new go to soap!
I am glad I discovered this. while I haven't used this soap for all the things it claims you can use it for, I love it for hand soap. there are few ingredients & there is no added fragrance. my boyfriend doesn't think it works as well as traditional soaps to get very dirty, greasy hands clean, but I love it. a bottle also lasts for a while. you must dilute the soap with some water otherwise it will be waaaaay too soapy. I sometimes add essential oils for added fragrance.
Only Soap In The House
I've been using Bronner's soaps for a while now, and do not use any other liquid soap. They do not contain anything that might be harmful to myself or my septic tank, clean nicely, and have saved me a lot of money in plumbing costs, because ever since using the soap I've not had a backed up pipeline!

I Like it
Base on others reviews i bought this product and so far Im happy with it.

I love this liquid soap for my baby and myself!
Good Mild soap
I have severe skin allergy so it is very important for me to find a natural, non-irritating, but effective liquid soap. I would like to report that this soap has done very well for my skin. It is also quite effective in cleaning.
The main way I use this soap is in all our foaming soap dispensers. I squirt about an inch in the bottom and add a few drops of essential oils, then fill with water. I also dilute it with water and add a little grapeseed oil and jojoba oil for my face cleanser. I carry mini foaming dispensers in diaper bag and purse. Its uses are endless in and out of the house!
This is a wonderful price for a great product. We actually dilute it to make it go even farther. In fact, we also use it diluted as a dog shampoo. Free of noxious chemicals and fragrances. My daughter gets compliments on her beautiful hair all the time.
I use this as a soap for my 9 month old baby. All we have used for her are natural products. After the first use of the Castile Liquid Soap, a former skin irritation is gone. I'm glad I got it!
Organic baby soap for sensitive skins.
Excellent soap highly recommend.
dr. bronner has broken my heart
the product itself in the photo shows that palm oil is in there, but the list of ingredients in the dr. bronner's product descriptions here on thrive don't mention palm oil at all. maybe it's fairly new change in formula. which is too bad, because I refuse to buy anything with palm oil in it due to the fact that the harvesting of it is destroying the primary orangutan habitat, pushing them toward extinction. otherwise, i love dr. bronner's products.
Dr. Bronners is the best and this is a great price
Purchased to make Shampoo and Body Wash. It works as I expected. No harsh chemicals in it to kill you.
I've been using this stuff for years now. When I lived near a food co-op in Brooklyn, I'd get it for $10, now I live in L.A. and can only find it for $15. Pretty annoying. Enter Thrive Market to the rescue. Now I can continue to buy my beloved Dr. Bronner's for a reasonable price, as Dr. Bronner would have wanted. The endless text on the bottle says it all, but for those who haven't read it... I use it to wash my hair, body, baby's hair and body, dogs, for spot-treating stains on clothes, hand-washing gentle garments, washing dishes when I run out of dish soap and don't feel like buying more right away... some people brush their teeth with it. I prefer peppermint toothpaste for that, but this soap has many uses and is a product I intend to use for the rest of my life.
I use this for a lot of different purposes around the house. I use it for cleaning and we use it as our body wash. My husband is sensitive to the ones with Almond and Peppermint, but this is so mild it doesn't bother him.
Excellent Product - Excellent Price
I use Dr Bronner's for so many things - from hand-washing woolens to making shampoo & dish-soap to dispersing essential oils. And Thrive Market has the best price I've found so far.
I've already made 2 bottles of foaming handwash with this and I can't even tell I've used any of the bottle up! Great value

Castile Soap to make foaming hand soap
I use this soap to make foaming hand soap. I simply boil some water and fill a foaming hand wash bottle about 2/3 full and then add a little bit of this soap. I like to also add some oil, lately I have used On Guard but anything with a scent just makes it so pleasant. A little goes a long way and I am able to make my own organic soap spending less than the cheap non-organic stuff. I love this soap!
I use this in a liquid handsoap recipe (with water and peppermint essential oil), and a body wash recipe and love both of them. I am very happy with all of Dr Bronner's brand items. They are natural.
Reasonably priced and good!
I bought this to make my own foaming hand soap. It's perfect! I should be able to make a lot from this one bottle. You can't beat the price!
- Theresa HK
Gentle and free from toxins
Love this for many of my DIY projects! Great for making my own liquid hand soaps, foam soaps, shampoo, body washes, and more...
Clean without frills!
Better on my skin than my baby's.
I am always looking to use the safest and most gentle products on my baby. Since I have been satisfied with other Dr. Bronner's products in the past, I thought this one would work perfectly on my baby.
Well, it wasn't horribly drying but there was no moisture on his skin post bath. I used it on myself, however, and it was very mild and less drying on me. I am not sure if my baby's skin is extra sensitive but this just didn't work as expected on him.
- Patti Robinson
Use it on ALL THE THINGS!
I love how beautifully simple and effective this soap is, and that it's organic. I use a few other products from Dr. Bronner's because that's all you really need; each product can be used for so many things, and it excels at all of those things. I get the baby version to make sure that it doesn't irritate anybody's skin (I do AirBnB and stock my bathroom with this) and if I'm really craving it to smell like something, I can just add a few drops of my favorite essential oil and voila! While I've heard good things about using this as a shampoo, I wear my hair natural and opt to use something a little more specialized. But this is great for cleaning just about everything. And it makes a great cleansing base if you want to customize your cleaning products. I add some lavender when I use it for laundry, some citrus oil when I use it for cleaning (or plain if I have a scent-sensitive guest), or some rosehip if I'm using it in the shower. I've recently switched to foam pumps and it's absolutely perfect. It's very concentrated so you're supposed to dilute it, but it already comes relatively runny compared to other soaps, and I'm a sucker for suds. The foamers do a great job of creating a rich, luxurious lather for my bath mix, and it's great because the oil gets evenly distributed too.
Great company, great product, I'll be buying this for a long time.
Old Person With Skin Issues
This soap has really helped me get though some tough medical issues in the previous months. I am going in for a lot of IVs and therapies which are causing my skin to breakout in sores. This soap is soft enough to help me heal but not dry me out. It is also tough enough to get me clean. Its organic, Non-GMO and Fair Trade! All things I love!
What I would like is a pump version of the same soap. It is sometimes hard to open a bottle with wet hands. I have just been transferring the liquid to another container. I would buy this again without a doubt.
- Ollie Hines
Great Laundry Detergent!
I basically use this soap for everything, but my current favorite use is as laundry detergent. Instead of buying baby laundry soap, I just mix half water and half of this product together and it works great! It's also strong enough to wash mine and my husband's clothes! My husband is a car mechanic so his clothes can be pretty smelly. I swear by this stuff!
- R. Osborne
I love this soap. I dilute it with filtered water in a foaming hand soap dispenser. There is one at each sink & in every shower. The foaming dispenser makes delicious foam so there is nothing to miss from the icky chemicals in body washes or soaps.
- Thrive User
Cleans well without the harshness
Our single adult and child shower product; doesn't dry out hair or skin. Especially good after yard work for removing oil-based poison ivy/poison oak toxins before a reaction develops.
Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap
It cleans well with only 7 healthy ingredients!
I found that this dries my babies skin out some, but it works wonderful for me. I like to use it as shampoo and body wash.
I have very sensitive skin and this is one the one soap I have found that doesn't make me itch!
- Harley K
For my baby
This is the only shampoo I use for my baby. I use it as her bathing soap and shampoo. I also use it to clean her high chair and her baby seat. It's not just a mild cleanser for baby, but it also cleans stuff great.
This is the safest and healthiest soap I have found for my baby and I am proud to use it.
- Kayla Bracco
Not just for babies
I use this soap as my single shower item. I use it as shampoo, body wash, and face wash. I use it as a household cleaner. I even use it to clean my dog.
I like that it is gentle. It smells great.
- Lucy Baptiste
This is a great wash to use. If you're not used to health-friendly washes like this, you'll probably miss the lathering bubbles at first, but it's something you quickly get used to. I love that it's unscented so that my husband, who has skin allergies, can use it while I love the squeaky clean it provides, so I use it as well. Do make sure you dilute it with water or other materials before using it as it's a very, very strong formula. You'll find this bottle lasts you a really long time.
I love that they package their soap in recycled bottles as well. I always worry about using plastic bottles, but I feel so much better about these.
- Becca Bea
Just ok on my skin
I need soft soap on my skin because it's so sensitive. I used black soap for awhile, but it wasn't as good as I hoped for, so I hunted around and found this liquid soap.
I guess I was drawn to the organic oils and the fact that it was made for a baby's skin. It's ok. I mean it foams up good, but my skin felt a little clammy after I used it. It's not bad, just not a home run. But my skin took to it after I was dry, so I'm still using it.
- R. Ball
Nice as a shampoo
I don't have any babies at home, but I sure needed to give some TLC to my hair. I've got a lot of scalp issues, and I've tried homemade conditioners and store-bought organic stuff, doesn't work.
I found this on Thrive for a really good price, better than Amazon even with Prime, so I tried it out. First off, it smells so clean and pure. Second, it's got two of my favorite oils, coconut and olive. I've been using it on my hair for weeks now, and I see a huge difference. My hair doesn't break, my scalp doesn't flake anymore and I just see more health overall.
- Rowena Brock
I've used a lot of cleansers in my life, most of them saturated with chemicals that were anything but good for my family. Then I found Dr. Bronner's soap.
It says 'baby,' but I don't have any toddlers in my house, and I use it all the time. It's great for cleaning dishes and it's even mild enough to use as a hair conditioner.
Not for babies only
My skin can break out as an allergic reaction during springtime, and I wanted something that could solve that problem. I've tried a lot of so-called organic solutions, didn't work.
My wife saw this online, and went to Amazon first, but it's selling at $16 per bottle. She found Thrive and we signed up, mainly because at $11 bucks, this is a great deal. Found a bunch of other health stuff too, so we lucked out. This oil's smooth, non greasy and cleared up my skin issues within a couple of weeks. Awesome product.
- Ray Bush
Best in baby products
Thrive Market always carries the best thing for babies. I love this organic mild baby soap. It;s very gentle for my baby. I never have to worry about the stuff that is seeping into my child's skin with Dr. Bronner's.
For anyone that wants the best for their baby, look towards this amazing brand. It keep my babies skin soft and clean.
- Genie Soder
Leaves skin super soft!
I wanted something for my baby's sensitive skin. His soap needed to be "clean", no dyes or animal based ingredients. Dr. Bronner's Organic Baby Mild Castile Liquid Soap is perfect for my son.
A mixture of several different oils helps this soap become a gentle cleanser. We can use it daily with no soapy buildup or rashes. My wife started using it on her eczema and she's experiencing so much relief.
- Guillermo Reynolds
It’s a really great buy
This is a really concentrated soap that lasts for a long time. It’s a really great buy. It leaves the skin really soft. My 6 year-old uses it since he was a baby because he has very sensitive skin, and this soap works for him. Don’t really need changing to a different product.
- Iesha Pita
As with all Dr. Bronner's products, they never disappoint! I love supporting this company because they don't test on animals and source through Fair Trade. Most of out family uses the peppermint, but I got this mild one for my son who has sensitive skin. Works great!
This is a great soap! It's useful for so many things, but I mostly use it in the shower. I like the scented kind for my laundry, and the unscented for washing. The need to dilute it was a bit incovenient at first, but now it's become second nature. I just keep a spray bottle of the diluted soap in the shower, and spray my washcloth with it a few times. It's great as a hand soap too. It doesn't dry out my hands.
I've found myself to be allergic to just about all scented soaps, but Dr. Bronner's Unscented soap has worked great for me! I love it as a shampoo and body wash and have also used it to do my laundry and for general household cleaning.
I'm so happy that Thrive's carrying it at such a low price, too.
A baby soap I can trust
Dr. Bronner's is the only soap I'll use with my 3 month-old. There are way too many baby shampoos/soaps full of toxic ingredients, but I know I can trust this soap since it has such a simple ingredient list.
The best for sensitive skin
I'm so happy that Thrive is carrying Dr. Bronner's baby mild. My whole family has insanely sensitive skin, and this seems to be the best soap for everyone! I've noticed a huge difference since I started using it as a body wash and laundry soap.
