Why You’ll Love Organic Vegetarian Baked Beans

Turns out the chant is true—beans are really good for the heart (and the rest of the body, too).

Options like Field Day Organic Vegetarian Baked Beans are not only healthy (full of fiber, protein, and iron), but also satisfying with a rich taste that goes well with traditional barbecue spreads, salads, and meat dishes.

Each 15 oz. can starts with organic white beans that are cooked to perfection and then mixed with a hearty tomato sauce made of organic tomato paste, molasses, vinegar, and onion and mustard powder, among other pure ingredients. The result is a flavorful side that’s gluten-free, vegan, and verified by the Non-GMO Project.

The health benefits of beans

Packed inside each tiny bean is a wealth of health benefits—boosting energy, satiating hunger, keeping the digestive tract regular, and improving heart function are just some of the positive effects. Not only that, but beans are an incredibly convenient food to consume and can be added to many dishes with ease. They’re relatively inexpensive, too—so there’s plenty of reasons to regularly enjoy products like Field Day Organic Vegetarian Baked Beans. Here’s a look at what each serving offers.

As fiber passes through your intestines, it does two main things. First, it cleanses the large intestine, improving bowel health. Second, it removes cholesterol and fatty acids from the stomach, which greatly impacts the heart. It’s advised to consume 25-30 grams of fiber daily, not only for the digestive benefits but also for weight management. Fiber does a great job of making you feel full after a meal, so you’re able to better portion what you eat, allowing you to maintain or even lose weight.

Beans pack in loads of protein (find six grams in each serving of Field Day), making them an excellent choice for vegetarians and vegans that don’t consume meat, poultry, or fish. Protein is also an essential part of many areas of the human body—including hair, nails, bones, muscles, cartilage, blood, and skin. It’s necessary for repairing cells and creating new ones. Additionally, protein provides the body with fuel to keep going, so if you’re struggling with an afternoon slump, try a side of Field Day Organic Vegetarian Baked Beans at lunch to power through the rest of the day.

While you can get protein from meat sources, not all of them are as low in fat as beans. In one entire can of Field Day Organic Vegetarian Baked Beans, there’s just 1.5 grams of fat, none of which is saturated or trans fat. So, not only will you get a nice, full feeling after eating, but you won’t feel weighed down like you just ate a greasy steak.

Other nutrients

If you’re lacking in vital nutrients—which many people are—beans can help you round out a complete plate. Beans contain antioxidants that protect from free radical damage, which can otherwise accumulate in the body and lead to chronic diseases like cancer. There’s also iron, a nutrient that keeps red blood cells healthy and increases energy. Beans also contain magnesium, a mineral that has powerful anti-inflammatory effects, which can lower the risks for chronic disease, obesity, and premature aging.

Recipes to pair with Field Day Organic Vegetarian Baked Beans

Field Day Organic Vegetarian Baked Beans are an amazing addition to any meal, and they’re ready to go right out of the can (just warm up for a few minutes to prepare). That means you’ll have more time to focus on creating an impressive, delicious entree and less time put into stressing out about how to bring the whole meal together. Here are some of Thrive Market’s favorite ways to pair a can.

Protein-Style Sliders

No need to skip out on burgers when you have a craving. These flavorful sliders are wrapped in lettuce instead of buns, making them fun to eat and much healthier. Instead of ketchup, enjoy a tangy mustard sauce and top with sweet caramelized onions. Frying the burgers gives them an intense taste that pairs well with Field Day Organic Vegetarian Baked Beans. When cooking, make sure to use beef that is at least 10 percent fat; anything less and you might end up with dry, flavorless patties.

Raw Vegan Eggplant Tacos

Fake meat be gone! These tacos are an incredible option for vegetarians and vegans, made with a walnut filling that combines nuts, sun-dried tomatoes, coconut aminos, apple cider vinegar, and a number of tangy spices. The mixture is topped onto roasted eggplant slices that act as taco shells and garnished with cabbage, avocado, and cilantro. Pair with Field Day Organic Vegetarian Baked Beans as a side or place a spoonful into each taco for an even wider range of full-bodied flavor.

Mustard-Herb Chicken

If you desire a quick meal that’s as easy as it is satisfying, look no further. Whole-grain mustard is a wonderful companion for fresh herbs, both of which come together in a tangy marinade that’s poured over fresh chicken thighs and then browned. Along with baked beans and a side salad, you’ll have a fulfilling and impressive meal that can come together in under an hour, and will make some great leftovers for weekday lunches, too.

Roasted Broccolini with Nori Salt

When you’re craving a meal of sides, pair baked beans with this crispy broccolini recipe. When you toss these veggies in the oven with sesame oil and coconut aminos, something magical happens. The thin stalks roast to the perfect crunchy finish, transforming them into something completely irresistible. Give them a Japanese spin with a topping of nori salt, made from shredded toasted nori, sesame seeds, cayenne pepper, and large-flake sea salt.

Cauliflower Mac and Cheese

Here’s another option for sides meal. This grain-free take on traditional mac and cheese subs in cauliflower instead of pasta, while pureed cashews and nutritional yeast contribute to the dish’s rich creaminess. Make with a bacon “breadcrumb” topping (or skip if you are vegetarian). In 35 minutes, you’ll have your new favorite dish.

Reviews For Organic Vegetarian Baked Beans

Based on 23 Reviews

Yes. Love them.

Hands down my favorite baked beans. The right consistency and flavor. I usually eat the whole can which can be a lot of sodium but i mostly eat fruits the rest of the day so its not that bad.

Best Baked Beans!

I love knowing I'm putting something good into my body. They're so good you don't even need BBQ sauce, but you could add your favorite if you want. Thank you Thrive Market for carrying organic vegetarian baked beans, my favorite southern staple.

These were so good, I ate them for dinner!

- Kayla

These baked beans are the best I have had. Not sour, just slightly sweet with great flavor. We like them on top of rice or on a baked potato. Scooping them up with corn chips that have melted cheese is great or as a picnic side with macaroni salad. Yum!

- Linda

The flavor was good, but the can was at least half liquids

Organic Vegetarian baked beans

Too, too sweet.

surprisingly good

I've been buying vegetarian beans for a long time but never found an organic brand until now. These are surprisingly good. My husband will add hot chilies to change them up a bit but I like them just like they are.

- carol

These are pretty good for what they are. I will get them again.

Favorite Beans

Incredible. I didn't expect them to taste this good.

- Mary

Excellent nutritional values.

These baked beans contain great nutritional values. They are organic, high in fiber and protein and cholesterol free.

They can be served warm straight from the can or as an addition to salads or casseroles. The beans are firm but soft. The tomato based sauce that it's mixed in is tasty, although the first couple of times it tasted slightly bitter. However, after trying several times, it is more sweet than anything.

- J. Scott

Great Beans at a Great Price!

These beans where just what the doctor ordered! Literally, my doctor told me to start eating more beans as they will provide the nutrients that my body is lacking. I have never been a bean guy but these changed that. I LOVE that they are Certified Organic and Non-GMO. I grew up in a farm community that never really thought twice about the crops being modified. The sauce was pretty good too!

What I would have liked is a longer shelf life. The cans I got where about 6 months away from being expired and I wanted to buy a few to save for a later time. I am not sure that I can eat all 12 cans within 6 months. I will sure try!

- Jody Lawrence

Great Organic Beans!

This can of beans has a mild, clean taste with a hint of sweetness in the sauce. They make a great side to almost anything and go great on salads! They are gluten-free, wheat-free, non-GMO, and in a BPA-free can. Doesn't get much better!

- H. Higgins
