About This Brand

Jovial Foods, Inc. was founded by a husband and wife team who has always been passionate about food, farming and traditions. Carla and Rodolfo met in the 1980’s in Bologna, where she was spending a year abroad studying Italian and he was studying agriculture. Both were born into family of talented home cooks, he in Italy and she in New England, and food was at the center of their childhoods. Carla and Rodolfo discovered that their young daughter’s asthma, stomach disturbances, mood swings, chronic sinusitis and excessive hair loss was caused by her body’s sensitivity to modern wheat. They both were professionals in the organic food industry, but they realized they needed to go beyond organic. Their focus shifted to creating high-quality gluten free foods for their family. They were not only looking for great tasting, gluten free foods processed without allergens, they also wanted their daughter’s food to be made with the best certified organic ingredients. Carla and Rodolfo soon...

Great for Gluten-sensitives

Great for Gluten-sensitives

einkorn penne pasta

I was excited about trying einkorn pasta since I had read that this ancient grain was better for us but a little nervous about whether my husband would like it. He really liked it! That says a lot for it. I would keep buying it again.

Yum

I love this pasta. I have been using this for quite some time - I was very pleasantly surprised to be able to get it from Thrive at a much cheaper price!

Great for whole family

My children have gluten intolerances and we were thrilled when we tried this and realized they could eat it with no ill effects. Definitely our new go-to noodles!

- Anne

YUM!

Was nervous to try these as I am not a fan of whole wheat pasta, but these do not have that chewy, heavy whole wheat taste. They cook up really well and are more like semolina pasta than whole wheat. And they are ridiculously healthy for you. I will definitely buy these again.

Einkorn Penne Rigate

I just logged on to buy more! My daughter and I have pretty serious gluten sensitivities and this pasta seems to agree with us.

Jovial Einkorn Penne Pasta

So, I recently learned about Einkorn flour and pasta and was curious if my daughter and I, who have class 3 gluten sensitivities, would be able to tolerate it? I'm happy to report that I purchased 4 boxes and have just 1 box left! She is extremely fussy and sensitive to most foods and she loved this pasta and said she felt perfectly fine. Give it a try and hopefully Thrive Market will bring us Einkorn flour so we can make our own recipes (hint, hint!!!)

Ancient Grains!

I really enjoy this pasta! Once you are used to eating more hearty food that has nutrients in it, you will appreciate this pasta. It tastes great and does not leave you bloated like other whole grain pastas.

consistency

I made the mistake of not reading the fine print that this is whole wheat pasta. I would not have bought it had I paid more attention. I have not liked the consistency of any whole wheat pasta I've ever tried, and this one is no different. Grainy and chewy. Not good for me.

Can't beat the price or taste

First off, Thrive has this for about a dollar less than Amazon, and that's usually the case when you do a comparison between the two sites. And if you like whole wheat pasta that's moist and full of that slightly nutty flavor that makes this pasta so delicious, then this is the one you should buy. I've had lots of whole wheat pasta, and most of them are just ok. Some you have to cook five minutes beyond the instructions just to make them soft enough to eat, but this cooks up right every time and it doesn't leave me feeling bloated.
