Why You’ll Love It

Heirloom Greek oregano boasts a sharp, pungent aroma and flavor that you love sprinkled over Mediterranean and Mexican dishes. Many other seed companies substitute the more common pot Marjoram, which has almost no flavor, but Lake Valley Seed's variety is the real deal. Planting: Oregano seed is tiny and easiest to start indoors. Start late in winter for spring transplants. Use a sterile seed starting mix for best results. Keep evenly moist until tiny plants germinate.

Tough to Get Started, But Very Hardy

These super tiny seeds are tough to start, but once they get going they are extremely hardy. I tried starting them last year (2015) in a sunny window and only 3 out 10 seed starting pots grew anything. This year, I have a better seed-starting setup and I got 3 out of 5 going. Don't be discouraged though, because the ones that I did get to germinate are incredibly hardy. I live in a designated zone 5 area, but I don't buy plants unless they can live in zone 4. These guys stayed green all through the winter and are growing like crazy this spring.
