Why You’ll Love It

This winner of the Paris Salon du Chocolat award is a smooth, dark chocolate bar made from 63 percent heirloom cocoa from Madagascar. Madecasse bars contain only a few all-natural ingredients, like crunchy cocoa bean nibs and just the right amount of pure sea salt for the perfect mix of salty and sweet. Madecasse’s chocolate is vegan, kosher, and free of GMOs, soy, and dairy. The company was founded by two former Peace Corps volunteers that are continuing to work with local farmers in Africa by supplying Direct Trade products that increase their living wage.

About This Brand

We were Peace Corps volunteers in Madagascar. We fell in love with the people and the country and wanted to do more. So we started making chocolate there in 2008 in collaboration with a local manufacturer. Even though 70% of the world’s cocoa comes from Africa, less than 1% of the world's chocolate is actually made there. We exist to change this. To date, over 90% of our chocolate has been made from start to finish in Madagascar. In late 2015, we started to increase our supply by making chocolate in collaboration with contract manufacturer in the U.S., in addition to continuing our work with the local manufacturer in Madagascar. This was not an easy decision for us, but it was a necessary decision to keep the business moving forward while we invest in more manufacturing capacity in Madagascar. One step to the side in order to take our mission 10 steps forward. We expect to have additional manufacturing capacity in Madagascar in 2017. For those of you who have supported us...

Reviews For Sea Salt & Nibs Dark Chocolate Bar

Based on 4 Reviews

Best bar I've tried

I consider myself a bit of a chocolate snob, and this is the best bar of chocolate I've ever eaten. I brought it with me for a treat during a stressful workday and took a bite while multitasking. It forced me to take a break and pay just can't rush eating something this good. Beautifully balanced. I love that they source their chocolate ethically.

Just about the best chocolate bar I've ever had

I really love this chocolate bar. It was very satisfying. Too often, bars with cacao nibs in them don't quite work… The nibs end up tasting way too wood- like. I'm not sure if they roast the nibs first or if it's the kind of nibs they use but it works well. It's kind of like eating a Nestlé crunch bar only the crunchies are even more chocolate

Favorite Madecasse Flavor

This bar is well balanced with just that hint of sea salt to make it shine. My go-to flavor whenever I pick up a Madecasse bar. Yum!

Game changer

This bar of chocolate will change the way you eat chocolate forever. The sea salt, the nibs for crunch and the amazing fruity notes that naturally occur in this heirloom cocoa they use. Plus, on top of the amazing taste, this company is doing amazing things by focusing on Madagascar (one of the poorest countries in the world). Hands down my favorite bar and chocolate company.
