chew toy, not fetching

WE did play with it, but my dog quickly chewed off one end and it trying to eat the hemp . Anyone know if this is safe fiber to consume? Otherwise I will have to throw out!

Kinda bummed.

Great construction, but instead of wanting to play with it, my cattle dog just wanted to chew on it. 15 minutes later one end was melted and there were bits of hemp all over the floor.
