About This Brand

Hello my name is Tom Friedmann, as a "FOODIE", my wife Ellie and I have always been on the lookout for healthy, new innovative ways to eat. Since my retirement, I’ve been looking for something in the food business to occupy my time, as well help mankind survive old age by eating healthy and disease-free. Hence the journey​ began. In 2005 I spent three weeks at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida where I learnt how to become green, raw, and nutritarian. It was through this journey that my wife and I discovered that meat was not necessary for great health and that it could be replaced by legumes, which are lentils, beans, garbanzos, and peas.

Best alternative pasta I've tried

I don't know how they do it, but they somehow make these noodles with one ingredient - red lentils - and it would pretty much pass for a regular/ refined carb loaded pasta. It's a miracle. It's also expensive. But worth it.

Wonderful substitute for traditional pasta

I have been trying to drastically reduce the amount of carbs my family eats at night for health reasons. We have dearly missed wheat pasta and have found Tolerant brand penne to be a great component of chicken alfredo. My children and husband gets second servings when I make it. I can eat it without of worrying about my insulin levels spiking, and I get the added bonus of protein, fiber, and other micronutrients with my meal. Thank you Tolerant for giving me pasta back!

Wow, they're good!

I have eaten very little pasta these past few years because most of the gluten free options taste like mushy cardboard. These penne have both good texture and flavor! It's a little tricky to cook them just right, yet they are more forgiving than others and still hold up as leftovers.

FINALLY!

Finally, a faux-pasta that has consistency of...pasta! I made a goulash out of this and LOVED IT! A little bit of bean aftertaste, but not bad.

A life-saver!

I have Celiac and I also have developed an extreme intolerance for rice and corn ( which are in most gluten-free products, especially GF pasta). I missed eating spaghetti and mac and cheese and other pasta dishes. I found these red lentil penne pastas and OH MY are they good!! They are very mild in taste and with any kind of sauce, they taste like normal pasta. Even my kids think they taste great!

I'm not picky when it comes to taste so to me, it was great, but speaking critically to consistency - this pasta holds together well and has a great 'al dente' texture you'd expect from traditional penne if you cook it based on the directions.
