Why You’ll Love Organic Whole Cashews, Dry Roasted & Salted

Here’s something to chew on: Nuts are one of the best snacks you can choose when hunger pangs hit. Full of nutrition and a good source of energy, just a handful can make you feel satiated until your next meal.

Though there are many varieties to choose from, if you are hunting for an option with a bit of sweetness and a super smooth texture, reach for a bag of Woodstock Organic Large Whole Cashews. Woodstock makes their nuts with only 100 percent certified organic ingredients and no artificial preservatives, so you can know you’ll be eating a quality product every time.

Nutrition of cashews

Cashews prove that foods can taste great and be healthy, too. Just one quarter cup serving of Woodstock Organic Large Whole Cashews contains a whopping five grams of protein, nine grams of carbohydrates, 13 grams of heart-healthy fats, plus 10 percent of the daily recommended value of iron that makes it a nutritious and energy-rich pick-me-up. As well, each serving has little sugar and no trans fats or cholesterol, which sets it apart from more processed snack foods.

Health benefits of cashews

Thanks to all the inherent nutrients of cashews, regularly including these nuts in your diet also provides additional health benefits.

  • Heart health: Not only are cashews naturally low in cholesterol, but the concentration of healthy fats in these tasty morsels also works to lower cholesterol levels in the body by minimizing bad LDL compounds and increasing good HDL amounts. Keeping this ratio in balance will keep arteries from getting clogged, which will help decrease the risk of heart disease and heart attacks. Lowered cholesterol also helps cut the rate at which gallstones develop and keeps the liver functioning at its prime.

  • Bone strength: Cashews also have good amounts of calcium, potassium, vitamin K, and magnesium, all of which work together to keep bones strong and reduce the chance for developing osteoporosis as the body ages. Magnesium also plays a role in brain health and decreasing the rate of migraines as well as their duration.

  • Blood sugar control: Nuts like cashews rank low on the glycemic index, which is a numerical way of qualifying how a food will impact blood sugar levels. Lower rankings mean that blood sugar will not spike after eating a particular food, and that is important for controlling and preventing diabetes.

Cooking with cashews

Cashews are delicious by themselves, but their naturally buttery flavor and delicious crunch can also be a convenient addition to entrees and also be used as a base for healthful nut milk. Here are some of Thrive Market’s favorite ways to utilize a bag of Woodstock organic nuts.

Cashew Chai Milk

Chai tea lattes are an indulgent way to wake up in the morning with a rich taste and good amount of caffeine, but without the jitters that coffee so often provides. To make a dairy-free mug, use some thick cashew milk as the base and then add a handful of spices including cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and pepper. A scoop of maca powder will provide an added energy boost and some butterscotch flavor while Medjool dates sweeten it up even further. This drink can also be chilled for a summertime refresher.

Rosemary Popcorn Mix

Get your party started with this snack mix that combines popcorn and cashews for tons of crunch. The bowl is seasoned with a helping of cayenne pepper, fresh rosemary, melted butter, kosher salt, and just a pinch of brown sugar for some added sweetness. First, you’ll want to roast the cashews for about seven minutes to bring out their natural flavors and make them a bit softer. Then, add the flavorings to taste, making the mix as sweet or spicy as you’d like by adjust the concentrations of pepper and sugar. Toss the popcorn and cashews a few times to make sure they are fully coated, and then pour into a decorative bowl, which will quickly become the centerpiece of your bash.

Cashew-Chicken Stir-Fry

Cashews are also a popular addition in Asian cuisine, including stir-fry. This hot dish is famous for how fast and easy it is to make as well as for being a healthy complete meal. This recipe calls for boneless, skinless chicken breasts, snow peas, and roasted nuts. A combination of spices, including garlic, sea salt, and chile pepper add a pop of flavor while healthful sesame oil cooks the ingredients in 10 minutes flat. Finish with a squeeze of lime juice for even more tang.

Best I've had in a very long time, it's hard to stop eating them.....

I have a hard time finding nuts that taste fresh to me. These were excellent.

Perfectly roasted and Salted

These are our new favorite Cashews. Nice big bag, too.

Love these they are salted just right and super tasty!

- Heather

Excellent snacking stuff!

- Sharon Woodard

Woodstock also makes the unsalted cashews, but I like these better, because I want just a hint of salt to bring out the full flavor of the cashews. These are non-GMO and they have nothing added to the nuts except cashews and salt. They are whole roasted and they even ship in a BPA-free package if you have any concerns about that. These cashews are fantastic. The hardest thing is not finishing the package in a day, because even with Thrive's great price, it could get expensive.

Very good

I've tried Woodstock's goji berries, and they're good, so I bought these cashews to see if the quality was the same, and it is. These are salted, but don't be fooled, there's on 190mg of sodium, which is far less than most dry roasted and salted cashews. But these cashews have a huge crunch, and a wonderful flavor. Just a handful is enough to get me going before I do a workout or as a light snack instead of fattening chips.
