Why You’ll Love Shells and Real Aged Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese

Macaroni and cheese, please! Annie's Homegrown Shells and Real Aged Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese will put a smile on anyone’s face, whether it’s a fun lunch on the weekend at home, or dinner that is put together on a busy weeknight. Annie’s has taken their incredibly popular original Shells and White Cheddar and has given it a cheesy twist by making it with real cheddar. While most macaroni and cheeses available have an orange tint from chemicals, this savory dish is colored with a plant extract called annatto. The kids are sure to love it, and adults are going to love that it doesn’t have any artificial ingredients or fake flavors in it.

Why choose Annie's Homegrown Shells and Real Aged Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese?

It’s a short list of wholesome ingredients when it comes to Annie's Homegrown Shells and Real Aged Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese. Inside one will find:

  • Organic wheat shell pasta
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Whey
  • Butter
  • Nonfat milk
  • Salt
  • Sodium phosphate
  • Annatto extract for color

Macaroni and cheese is often what kids crave, but it’s not always what they need—especially when extra sodium or potentially harmful dyes (like Yellow 5 and Yellow 6) come into play. Annie’s Homegrown Shells and Real Aged Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese uses ingredients like butter, nonfat milk, and real cheddar cheese, all of which are good in moderation. Additionally, noodles are organic wheat, meaning that no pesticides were used in the production process.

Annie's Homegrown Shells and Real Aged Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese also offers 10 grams of protein per serving, which is approximately 12% of the daily recommended value. Protein acts as a building block for muscles, bones, and other tissue, and it also helps to keep bones, tendons, ligaments, and skin feeling elastic. A lack of protein will lead to feeling worn down and lethargic since the body has to work harder to grow and repair tissue. In addition, it also helps the body absorb nutrients, which is key for growing bodies, and contributes to that full feeling after eating.

Late July Classic Rich Crackers

Switch things up with regular old macaroni and cheese by adding a homemade twist. Once that’s done put it in an oven-safe dish and bake for 10-20 minutes, then add some crumbled Late July Classic Rich Crackers on top for a “breadcrumb” topping that will be a little sweet and play with the savory flavors.

Mavuno Harvest Organic Dried Mango

After a bowl of Annie's Homegrown Shells and Real Aged Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese, give the kids a not-so-typical sweet treat with some dried mango. Mac and cheese

this is a great substitute in place of commercial store bought products. It's a quick addition as a side dish or meal. And of course, everyone likes Mac and Cheese.

- debra

I love the flavor of these shells and they are super creamy.

- Kelly

My kids all enjoy this mac n cheese. It's hard to get the lumps out of it though, that is the only downside. I have found that you definitely need to do the sauce before adding the cooked noodles otherwise you have a clumpy mess on your hands. All-in-all I would purchase again.

Best boxed M&C

If your kids (or college kids, or YOU0 love M&C out of a box, this is real food and has real food flavor. Since its an easy go to meal, we stock up, cant beat the price here, its twice as much in my local health food chain.

Good eats

These are good, I like that they are organic. They are not real stick to your ribs type although I imagine you could modify the directions to make them that way.

- Valerie

Soooo good!

my daughter and I share a box of this for lunch sometimes. We both just loves this brand. I use to only eat Velveeta mac n cheese but after trying this I had to switch. And the price is just great, you'd pay double this at the store.
