The History of Halo
In 1986, a woman’s cat wasn’t experiencing improved health on a vet-prescribed food plan, so the owner asked a nutritionist friend to whip something up using real ingredients. Among friends and neighbors, it became known as “Spot’s Stew,” which was the unofficial start of Halo. When the current CEO, Myron Lyskanycz, took over in 2012, he arrived with a plan for elevating the company even more by creating an ethically and sustainably sourced supply chain.

Halo aims to be “holistic, whole, and humane,” creating better food for pets with an eye towards the planet. To this end, Halo promotes a return to sustainability by sourcing pasture-raised, free-range, and sustainably caught meat and seafood—practices that help return carbon to the soil.
