Why You’ll Love It

Todd's bourbon smoked chipotle flavor is deliciously spicy and picked by Women's Health Magazine as their favorite vegan jerky. We spice it up with ancho and chipotle powder and subtly sweeten it with Kentucky proud sorghum (sourced from a farm 50 miles away). When you want a jerky with a bit of a kick go for this flavor.

About This Brand

Louisville Vegan Jerky Company was started in my home kitchen back in 2012. Having spent some time in Oahu as a child, I was craving manapua one night and decided I would try to create a vegetarian version. Typically manapua is made by stuffing char sui (bbq pork) into a sweet dough and steaming it. I got an old recipe for the char sui from my mother and decided to bake the soy protein I was using instead of sauteing it. I was busy trying to get the dough ready and chatting with roommates when the smell of bbq hit my nose. I realized I didn't set a timer. I ran into the kitchen grabbing the baking sheet out as quick as I could only to find overdone faux char sui. I was going to make another attempt from scratch when I decided I'd try the burnt char sui anyways. I couldn't believe it, it was the worst char sui I'd ever had, but the best vegan jerky in the world! I scooped up what was on the tray, put the new jerky creation into ziplock bags and went to my favorite local bar...

Delish!

The Vegan Jerky was some of the best we've tried. The texture was great and the flavor was fantastic. Will definitely buy them again.

Meh...

They are okay. Really dry and they have a rather odd spongy texture. The flavor is great, but I am not the biggest fan of this jerky overall. I much prefer the Primal Strips, which are packed with flavor, are nice and chewy and even moist. I really hope to see them here on Thrive one day.

I do have to say that my daughter loves this jerky, so it's probably just a texture thing for me.

- JD

Awesome!

I'm addicted to Louisville Vegan Jerky. I actually have a monthly subscription with them but when I'm running low Thrive has the best prices so ill order from them. My 5yo gets excited every time he sees the box bc he loves it too!

Interesting

I'm not a vegan and or vegetarian. I was interested in trying vegan jerky and basically bought this out of curiosity. The texture is pretty interesting. It's not chewy at all, but I find it really nice to eat and it doesn't hurt my teeth. The flavor is pretty nice as well. It's a little salty though, but still really tasty!

- Anita

Not a vegan, but a fan of this anyways

I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian. I bought this on a whim. Then I repurchased. And I will repurchase again. It's nice to be able to mix non meat snacks in with the meat snacks. This tastes better than a lot of actual meat jerkies. It is a little salty, but overall the flavor and texture are great. A nice alternative.

What?!?!

Better than real jerky! I'm new to the vegan world and kept checking the ingredients to make sure it was vegan. It's good but in small amounts due to the sodium.

Louisville Vegan Jerky

My vegetarian daughter really liked this.

Good alternative

This isn't my favorite jerky, but I do buy it whenever I can get a good deal on it. My husband makes homemade jerky, but it isn't always convenient when he often works 60 to 70 hour weeks. Louisville Vegan Jerky Co is my #3 when it comes to favorite jerky!

Best Jerky

I am a HUGE fan of jerky. It's the perfect energy snack and travels well wherever you go. This brand and this flavor are my favorites. Chipotle and bourbon go together pretty well, so you get a nice rich smokey flavor with a little heat. Tastes great with smoked cheeses!

- Ralph Walston

Insanely good!

This stuff tastes exactly like Slim Jim! (I haven't eaten a Slim Jim in years, but that taste is unmistakable.) Delicious and addictive - my new favorite snack!

- Melissa

You can't tell the difference!

This jerky is excellent tasting ( a tad salty) but otherwise it has great flavor and you can enjoy it on a vegan diet!

- Kavan

Great

I love love love these. The texture is not the same as meat jerky but the flavor is addicting:)

- Tamara

GREAT

I love love love the flavor of these. They don't have the same texture as meat jerky but then again I didn't expect it to.

- Tamara

No wonder it was out of stock

Yum! I knew this had to be out of stock for such a long time for a reason. It is a great texture with an amazing balance of smokey and spicy flavors. One caveat: it is high in sodium (500 mg for a 1 oz serving), and it would be quite easy to binge on since it is so tasty. It may be wise to pace yourself with these though for that reason. Otherwise throwing back a piece here and then to quench a salty/savory craving seems fine to me!

Vegans Unite!

Finally a plant-based substitute that tastes like REAL JERKY!
