The Details
From one of Italy’s great growing regions—Piedmont—comes a grape known for its deep color, rich body, and low tannins. This bottle of Barbera is quintessentially medium-bodied, mouthwatering, bright, and fruit-forward. Serve it alongside your favorite pastas, creamy risottos, or seasonal stews. (Barbera also makes an exceptional companion for pizza night.) In short, you won’t want to put your glass down.

It’s not difficult to produce good wine if you have good grapes,” says winemaker Susanna Galandrino. Together with her husband, Alberto Adamo, the couple runs La Gironda, a winery tucked into Italy’s famed Piedmont region. The organic vineyards are harvested with care according to a flexible schedule that nature dictates each year, and hardly any interventions are used in the cellar. These sustainable practices have been in use for the past twenty years and ensure each sip reveals some of the family’s character and history.
