Why You’ll Love It
About This Brand
More than 40 different ranges of herb cough drops and teas.
Ricola LTD is one of the most modern and innovative manufacturers of herb cough drops in the world. Ricola exports more than 40 different ranges of herb drops and teas to over 50 countries.
The family-run company has its headquarters in Laufen, near Basel, Switzerland. Subsidiary companies are located in Italy, the UK, Asia and the USA. Founded in 1930 by Emil Richterich, the company is still under family ownership. Executive board president and third generation family member Felix Richterich directs the fortunes of the company today. This is why Ricola values high quality basic ingredients, in particular the herbs, which are cultivated in the Swiss mountains using organic farming methods.
Ricola AG is also committed to economically, socially and ecologically sustainable company management. As a major employer of over 400 employees it takes its corporate responsibilities seriously. Traditional values of a family-run enterprise coupled with Swiss quality and a passion for innovation define the success of the Ricola global brand. Incidentally, the name Ricola is an abbreviation of the company’s original name Richterich & Co., Laufen.
You could call it uncompromising, but we stay focused when quality, ecology and social responsibility are on the agenda.
Ricola’s quality commitment
Uncompromising excellent quality is the basic standard for all company decisions and practised company-wide. High quality basic ingredients are naturally a priority for Ricola. This includes careful processing methods to produce the different herb specialties. Herbs are therefore cultivated in the Swiss mountains using organic farming methods. No Ricola herb farmer uses pesticides or herbicides to cultivate the herbs. This has been our practice for decades: Ricola relied on organic farming long before it became fashionable. Ricola pays particular attention to the quality and natural condition of other basic ingredients and uses no artificial colorings or flavorings.
At Ricola, business success is not an end in itself. Instead, the company uses its success as an incentive to act responsibly towards all employees, society and the environment. Our company adheres to social values alongside profit-making considerations. This motivates our commitment to maintaining and supporting cultural values and charitable projects.
Ecology and sustainability
Our motto “Naturally good” is our promise to treat nature gently and respect nature’s resources.
Entrepreneurship in harmony with nature
For 25 years, Ricola has supported the organic cultivation of herbs in the Swiss mountains and without the use of pesticides and herbicides. This ensures Ricola sources high quality herbs for its herb specialties and simultaneously supports the diversity of species in Switzerland. Ricola pays particular attention to the quality and natural condition of other basic ingredients and uses no artificial colorings or flavorings.
Ricola respects environmental values in all areas of its business. This includes measures to reduce consumption of raw materials, energy and water as well as optimizing transport efficiency and wastewater disposal.
