About This Brand

It’s funny how life works out sometimes. Amy’s Kitchen never set out to become one of the world’s leading purveyors of prepared frozen organic foods, but here they are. The only thing Amy’s really wanted to do was provide busy people on the go with convenient food options that were healthier than typical TV dinners, and maybe make a decent amount of money in the process. Almost 30 years and millions of dollars in sales later, it’s safe to say that Amy’s Kitchen has succeeded far beyond their wildest expectations. How Amy’s Kitchen got started Rachel and Andy Berliner are like many people, and like most people who had just returned from a long grueling day of work, cooking was the last thing on their minds. They tried pre-cooked frozen foods but found them disappointing because of their weak cardboard flavors and unhealthy amounts of sodium, sugar, and chemical additives. Rachel and Andy thought a better way needed to exist, so they made one themselves and soon Amy’s Kitchen was...

This is great for bean and cheese burritos. Not too salty either, which I love.

tastey without salty

These are an excellent replacement for the usual too salty or too many unpronounceable ingredients in other brands

Too bland

I wish Amy's refried beans were just a tad more flavorful. I like the low sodium for health reasons, but I just didn't find the taste all that special. It's pretty noticeable that the salt is missing, but the beans don't have enough flavor on their own to sort of offset that problem. I'm going back to the standard type of black beans.

Works well on new diet

My doctor put me on a restricted salt diet, so I'm having to find a lot of products that I love that are low sodium. Amy's makes a fantastic refried beans, and I don't miss the salt, because the beans have such a full, nutty taste that has a strong flavor. I use them in a lot of mexican dishes, and for a special dip I make that my kids love. Great price for two, almost what I pay for one can at my grocery store.

Taste of real beans!

Taste of real beans! If you are looking for an original bean taste then this is definitely what you are looking for. I use them in a variety of recipes and it works very well with everything I made so far.
