Why You’ll Love Organic Roasted Seaweed Snack - Sesame
Snacks like potato chips and candy bars are often high in sodium and sugar and teeming with mystery additives. While they taste good, they can soon leave a sick feeling since they are filled with ingredients that aren't exactly kind to the body. But with more healthy options available on the market today, saying goodbye to the bad stuff has never been easier.
One great alternative is gimMe Organic Sesame Roasted Seaweed Snacks, which are made from fresh, high quality seaweed and then roasted until perfectly crispy. The savory plant is seasoned with just a pinch of sea salt and organic toasted sesame and sunflower oils, providing a low-calorie, low-carb treat that taste buds will love.
Unlike other snacks, there’s no need to ignore the fine print with gimMe. They take pride in the ingredients used in their Sesame Roasted Seaweed Snacks, which are naturally gluten-free, certified organic and verified by the non-GMO Project.
GimMe founders (and husband-and-wife team) Annie Chun and Steve Broad started the business out of a love for food and family. As parents, they wanted a way to provide delicious snacks for their kids without sacrificing health and nutrition. The result was a whole line of flavored gimMe Organic Seaweed Snacks, which are liked not only but kids, but also adults that savor the salty, briny taste without probably even knowing how many heaps of health benefits come with each handful.
What is seaweed?
Seaweed is an algae that can come in all shapes and sizes, and is also classified by color: brown (kelp, wakame, kombu, and arame), red (dulse, nori, Irish moss), and green (sea grass and sea lettuce). While seaweed can conjure up some unappetizing scenarios such as random bunches lying ashore with sand fleas buzzing around, or gobs drifting in the ocean kicked away by people splashing and playing—in many contexts it can actually make for a delicious and nutritious snack.
While it can also be listed in products such as natural toothpastes, fertilizers, or even filtration systems, the primary use for seaweed is as an edible food. For centuries, it’s been commonly seen on menus in restaurants in China and Japan, and recently the United States has been catching on to the trend.
The plant possesses an entire spread of distinct flavors, such as sweet, bitter, sour, salty, and that “fifth taste” umami, which is a Japanese word that literally translates to delicious.
Health benefits of seaweed
The great thing about seaweed is that it tastes great but is also incredibly light and healthy. Munching on a few sheets will leave you feeling much different than chowing down on a bag of greasy potato chips. Bodies crave salt, and gimMe Organic Sesame Roasted Seaweed Snacks provide it naturally, without added sodium, which over time lowers the risk for contracting high blood pressure, heart disease, or other complications. Additionally, there are only 25 calories per serving in gimMe Organic Sesame Roasted Seaweed Snacks, making this snack guilt-free. If that wasn’t enough, seaweed also contains some vital nutrients that are good for the body.
- Iron, a vital player in hemoglobin production. It helps red blood cells deliver oxygen throughout the body, allowing it to function properly. When iron is deficient, people may seem sluggish, have shortness of breath, anxiety, lack of focus, and even anemia in severe cases. Eating leafy green vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and plants like seaweed can naturally restore levels and boost energy.
- Vitamin C, which provides antioxidant power. Antioxidants are vital for optimal health, as well as growing and repairing the tissues in the body; they are the first line of defense in fighting the damage created by free radicals. Vitamin C also boosts heart health by decreasing levels of bad LDL cholesterol in the blood, which prevents strokes and heart attacks.
- Omega-3 fatty acids, a good kind of fat. While the word fat often has a negative connotation, there are certain fats that are good for the body such as the omegas found in fish oils and other aquatic life like seaweed. They are incredibly beneficial to overall health, primarily in lowering triglyceride levels. When triglycerides are too high, it can lead to serious heart complications. By consuming foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, you can lower the risk of heart disease, as well as ease symptoms of depression, ADHD, and dementia.
- Fiber, an essential plant compound that can be found in two forms: soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber is found in things like oats, peas, beans, and carrots, which turns into a jelly material in the body and works to lower blood cholesterol and glucose levels. On the other hand, insoluble fiber (found in seaweed) plays a key role in digestive health and weight management by moving food through the digestive tract and helping to achieve that “full” feeling after eating.
- Magnesium, an element present in every cell of the body that works to convert food into energy. Magnesium also repairs DNA, helps the body transmit messages from the brain to the muscles, and can alleviate pains from migraines or PMS due to its anti-inflammatory effects.
- Protein: It’s the building block of the human body that makes up hair, nails, bones, muscles, cartilage, blood, and skin. Just like fiber, it contributes to feelings of fullness after a meal, but more importantly, it helps to build and repair tissue to keep the body in prime health. Unfortunately, the body does not have a storage supply for protein, so it is an important part of the diet that must be eaten on a daily basis.
With all of these health benefits and such a unique, savory flavor, it’s no wonder people are going crazy for seaweed snacks. As a vegan, gluten-free, and USDA certified organic option, gimMe Organic Sesame Roasted Seaweed Snacks satisfy cravings in a healthy and delicious way.

more yummy health
same problem as regular flavor. too small size. other flavors would be nice too.
These are my favorite. I try to make them last a while, but fail. Great snack if I don't want anything heavy.
At first the fishy flavor of the seaweed put me off, but the more I ate, the more I loved them. Now, I can't get enough of them. Great accompaniment with soups. I prefer this flavor over the plain. I tried some wasabi flavor from my local store and they were delicious also, but much more expensive of course. Would like Thrive will get the wasabi flavor. I will be buying these again and again.
These are the best tasting snacks I have found to be so healthy, light and satisfying! Yum! Don't just take my word for it, try them for yourself!
Great Roadtrip Food
I got this order right before I hit the road. I packed a few junk foods and not many healthy foods at all, but this was definitely my go-to snack before I ate it all. Very tasty.
wasn't sure i'd like them too much at first, but now i can't stop eating the little sheets! yummy!
Very good seaweed!
Eaten within seconds..yummy!
I wish more came in the package because they're so good! This sesame flavor is definitely my favorite. I just bought 2 more packs
The flavor of a sushi roll without the rice. Perfect!
Sesame Seaweed snack
Our family loves this stuff! We keep it in stock at this house!
Low carb, low fat, high flavor! If you love sushi, but don't want the carbs & calories, then these are for you! Nice light snack that is loaded with flavor.
These are really good - and good for you.
Organic Roasted Seaweed Snack
Love these! Very tasty-lightly flavoured, another great item to send to school for lunches
More "fishy" than I expected
Not crazy about the taste. The texture is pleasant.
This is a great product. You have to like seaweed or that seaweed sort of flavor. If you are unsure, this is a good place to start. The sesame flavor tones down the seaweed flavor a little. We buy these a lot for our son who thinks that a package is a two bite snack. All I have to say is that I'd rather he eat these than many of the store alternatives.
Sons new favorite snack
My 12 yo son absolutely loves these. Every time I place an order he ask me to buy these. They are healthy so I don't mind buying them for him.
Mermaids are jealous of this
delicious! simply delicious. (I now order multiple packages because i eat it all so fast)
Organic Roasted Seaweed Snack - Sesame
These were awful! I tried using them in recipes when I couldn't eat them from the package and so far I haven't found anything they are good in.

This is the best seaweed I've tried, it is perfectly seasoned but still very light. I can easily eat an entire package completely guilt-free as they are only 25 calories per pack! I'm also fully satisfied after having these as a snack during my day. Also, an added benefit for those with an under-active thyroid like myself, these have helped me greatly in this department! I definitely recommend giving these a try!

Only 50 Calories!
The listed serving size is 1/2 of a package. Simply put: that's not going to happen. Once you open the bag and and pop one in your mouth, the rest of the bag will likely be gone in a matter of minutes. But, they're only 50 calories a bag, so they're no threat to a diet!
These are salty and a little bit nutty, and each sheet is paper thin and crispy! These are the perfect snack to substitute potato chips! On top of how tasty they are, seaweed has lots of fiber, which I'm always looking to get more of! Such a wonderful snack!
- Lois Page
It almost reminds me of sushi minus the fish & rice. It's a bit awkward to snack on as a "chip" since the squares are 2.5" x 3.5", but tasty none the less! I think it would be a great addition on top of rice and very versatile for quick snack horderves. You should definitely try them!
I love these. I ate a bunch of seaweed snacks while pregnant, because I enjoyed the taste and they were light enough on my stomach to not make me sick. Now my little toddler loves snacking on them herself. Coincidence? You be the judge! ;) Buy them and give them a shot, they're tastier than you think, especially if you're in a situation where you have trouble keeping food down due to illness, pregnancy, a bad headache, or what have you.
I haven't developed a taste for these but my dogs love them!!
It takes a bit of getting used to to enjoy seaweed snacks, but they can be a decent snack once you get used to them. This is one of my favorites since it doesn't have any corn or canola oil in it. It's really hard to find seaweed snacks without either of those ingredients. If you love dried seaweed, I think you're going to love this one!

Yummy and nutritious
As a vegan, I struggle with my old impulses for unhealthy snacks like crackers, which is why I bought these to stop those cravings.
I've always liked seaweed and these have a nice taste and it's all natural with no sugar or artificial oils. The only problems is there's not quite enough in a bag, as I can literally it all in one sitting.
Best snacks for my diet
I'm on a strick low fat, low cal, low sugar diet, which makes finding snacks difficult.
But one of my go to munchies are these seaweed snacks, which are packed with nutrients, but are sourced naturally.
All they have is seaweed, sunflower oil, sesame seed oil and sea salt. That's it. No sugar, preservatives or processed oils. They have a big flavor and they're crunchy and filling. Love these.

Tremendously healthy and tasty!
I love these! Of course seaweed is very healthy, but these are delicious too. They're crispy, light, and full of deep umami flavor. They can be pricey though, but worth the splurge, and now I can find them even cheaper online.
