About This Brand

More than 30 flavors and varieties of rice pilafs, couscous, and other grain dishes.Near East started in 1962 in Worcester, MA as a small, family-owned company. George and Hannah Kalajian immigrated from Armenia to the United States and set up a grocery store in 1940. Soon after the store opened, Hannah began serving sandwiches and home-cooked hot meals at a twelve-stool luncheonette counter adjoining the grocery store. On Wednesdays, Hannah served her specialty: roasted chicken and Armenian-style rice pilaf. A tasty combination of rice, orzo pasta, and seasoning, the pilaf quickly became so popular that Hannah began to package it - filling bags of pilaf mix by hand in her home kitchen. Reviews For Couscous Mix - Toasted Pine Nut

Based on 5 Reviews

good flavor

hubby recommended based on taste and also prep time, about 10 minutes, so i had him make this! Wish there were more pine nuts, but know they are getting $$. Still a nice side dish!

Better than Rice Pilaf

This couscous is great! I am an avid rice pilaf eater, so when I saw this at the store and tried it, it was right up my alley. It was easy to make like rice pilaf, but healthier (by a long shot!) and tastes even better. I love this with chicken and mixed veggies. One of my favorite meals.

Family Favorite

This couscous is a family favorite. I was spending almost $3 more in the store for this, so when I joined Thrive and found this on here I was happy to see it was much cheaper. We have this at least one night a week for dinner. Love it!

Our favorite coucous

I love this couscous so much. Not only do I love it, every member of my household loves it, which is unusual because we can't agree on any foods here! This is tasty, easy to prepare, consistant flavor every time.
