Why You’ll Love It

They may look like nuts or seeds, but Macambos are actually closest to the cacao bean with similar compounds including energizing and mind-boosting theobromine, plus antioxidants and a rich buttery taste. Ethically sourced from the Amazon, these fiber- and protein-rich morsels are a filling snack that tap into a food source of ancient civilizations.

Add some variety to your trail mix!

Very crunchy nut, a bit oily, hint of coffee, one way we enjoyed them was in a breakfast parfait or simply out of the freezer.

So good

These are so unique in flavor and texture. Like the description, it's buttery, mild, savory, and similar to cocoa. They are literally my favorite snack. They also make me feel very awake lol I only wish they were cheaper

These are so good, and have become my favorite snack. They have a nice nutty flavor and a great texture. I mix them with mulberries and golden berries, my favorite snack.

Great Nut Substitute!

I love the crunch of these and the nutrition profile. They have an odd chemical smell each time I open the jar but no chemical taste. Since I can't have nuts, these are a great snack substitute!

I love 'em.

I think they are a great, mild snack. I found myself wanting a few each day. They aren't super remarkable in any way, except the geometry of the beans and the way they break apart. I think they have an awesome mouth feel, but you have to watch out for the tiny hard part at the top, which is darker, because it is certainly a different density than the rest of the very easily cracked bean. It tastes very faintly like white chocolate and very very faintly like the best part of a peanut. When I first opened the jar and smelled them my brain went to peanut butter. But it is very mild, and some folks might find them bland or boring. But not me, I'm into it. I wish they were less expensive, then they'd be a fun, unique new staple in my world. Preferable over most nuts. Went well with cashews and fruit, like figs, dates or banana.

Wierdly addictive

I have to say, these are about the weirdest things I've ever eaten. My teenage son tried them and said, "It's like eating rocks. [Pause] Can I have some more?" The texture is oddly rocklike (but crunchy, not hard; your teeth are in no danger). I don't know how to describe the flavor... I suppose it is a little buttery, like the company's description says. It's a mild flavor, nothing like eating unsweetened cacao nibs, and yet it does remind me slightly of cacao. Bottom line: I think a lot of people might spit them out, but there must be something in them my body needs, because I can't get enough of them! If you like Sacha Inchi, then give these a try. They're not really very much like Sacha Inchi, but I find that people who love Sacha Inchi tend to like odd, crunchy, non-nut sort of things; whereas people who think Sacha Inchi are horrible are probably going to think these are even less palatable. Just a guess.
