Benefits of pickled ginger
Ginger has long been a major herbal remedy, and its use dates back centuries to ancient Chinese medicine. It has also been associated with a wide range of different health benefits, those of which are present in pickled ginger:
- Digestion – Ginger has a long history of use in alleviating digestive issues. The anti-inflammatory compounds in ginger help to reduce stomach related problems.
- Nausea – Motion sickness and general nausea have all been treated with ginger throughout the years. It’s believed that the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects can help settle the stomach. (Women who are pregnant should only consume less than 1 gram per day).
- Nutrients – Nutritional content of ginger isn’t that high, but it does provide some of the daily recommended amounts of things like magnesium, manganese, vitamin B6, and potassium. It won’t provide enough to be a complete source, but it can increase the overall consumption levels of these substances.
- Arthritis – Those diagnosed with arthritis have found that ginger can help alleviate osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. This is due to the gingerols that are derived from phenol compounds in the plant. These help reduce inflammation and therefore, can lessen arthritis pain in the joints.
- Heart health – Ginger can also help prevent the clotting of blood in the body, which in turn reduces cholesterol levels. This can aid in prevention of heart disease, stroke, and promote better overall heart health.
- Palate cleansing – Pickled ginger is a mainstay on sushi plates because it helps to cleanse the palate between different varieties of sushi. During tasting sessions or when a clean mouth is needed, reach for The Ginger People Organic Pickled Ginger.
Using The Ginger People Organic Pickled Ginger
For more than 4,000 years, ginger has been used in cooking and the pickled version of it has become a major part of many dishes. There are multiple ways to use The Ginger People Organic Pickled Sushi Ginger including:
- As a garnish for Asian inspired dishes, particularly seafood
- On the side, for palate cleansing between different types of sushi
Additionally, ginger can be used on its own as a way to settle the stomach or aid in digestion. If used by itself, adults want to limit their intake to about 4 grams per day. Pregnant women need to limit their intake to less than 1 gram per day. But no matter how it's going to be used, The Ginger People Organic Pickled Ginger is a perfect addition to any kitchen pantry thanks to its many excellent health benefits and its hot, ginger taste.
Complete the sushi experience
The Ginger People Organic Pickled Ginger isn’t the only part of a great sushi meal. There are plenty of other ingredients to add to the kitchen to ensure that taste and quality are both present in your sushi creations.
Good sushi requires excellent rice (and fish). Luckily, this rice is of the highest quality, completely organic, and vegan friendly, making it an excellent choice for your carefully curated dish.
Along with rice, nori is a must for creating great sushi. Used to roll the rice, fish, and other ingredients, this nori is sourced organically from a producer with more than a century of experience in the field.
The essential condiment for Asian inspired foods, and sushi in particular, is soy sauce. Now enjoy the tangy flavor of soy sauce in a gluten-free form. It’s also organic, non-GMO, and is made with significantly less sodium than traditional soy sauces.
Along with pickled ginger, wasabi is another key part of the sushi experience. It fits into a wide range of foods perfectly like guacamole, peas, deviled eggs, salmon, chicken, and noodles.
Ponzu sauce, a unique alternative to soy sauce, is sweet, tangy, savory, and sour all at once. It’s great with noodles, tofu, tempura, fish, and sushi. This version is organic and GMO free.
Another excellent alternative to soy sauce is fish sauce. It has been used traditionally in Asian cuisine for years, but recently it has been gaining more popularity.
Bonito flakes provide a crunchy and savory texture to any food. Free of dyes, artificial colors, and certified organic, Eden Foods Bonito Flakes are a great finishing touch to sushi.

Organic Pickled Sushi Ginger
Quick becoming my favorite, I eat these right out of the jar, if you live ginger your going to love this product!
Fresh, sweet, and yummy to eat!
This ginger tastes so fresh and lightly sweet. You can barely taste the vinegar. I ran out of ginger paste and this worked perfectly in the recipe despite being pickled. I am very pleased with this product!

So Very Yum <3
What's to say? It's very tasty Sweet Pickled Ginger. Has no yucky aftertaste, not too 'burny', not too sweet. Just the right amount of bite. YUM! <3<3<3

Love it. Have purchased it in the grocery store but am happy to see it at a better price at Thrive!!!! Great stuff!!!
I used this pickled ginger in an Asian chicken meatball recipe, and it was outstanding!
This stuff is addicting.
This is not the typical ginger that you normally get with your sushi. It is much higher in quality and the taste is AMAZING. I find myself eating this a la carte at times because I crave the sweet, sour and hot taste. Top notch product.
I eat these right out of the jar!
Nice flavor, not too strong. I buy these often on Thrive; nice price to!
Would have been much better if they didn't load it down with sugar... the ginger can stand on it's own... without the unnecessary sweetening.
A little too sweet
It is very good and I love that it is not pink! But, just a little too sweet for me (I love the strong ginger flavor). If you like mild ginger this is for you. Although, the sweetness hasn't stopped me from using 3 jars so far.
Not what was expected
The ginger was mushy no crunch at all and it had too much sugar. What a disappointment. CAD

I luv ginger and this delivers in a big way. I'll have some right out of the jar on its own.
I order this thinking "organic". It turned out that the ginger was of good quality but it was way to sugary for my taste.
This is the best pickled ginger I've ever had. It has the refreshing taste of pickled ginger without the preservative after taste. I put it in onigiri with umeboshi and it was delicious.
I will eat any pickled ginger, but this stuff wasn't just good. Way better than any pickled ginger I've had before! I will be buying this again soon!
This stuff is amazing! Zinger flavor, bold tastes and goes amazing with any type of noodle dish.
Love this stuff! It's not too sweet at all like some of the reviews say. I ate this fairly quickly.
Great in salads or straight out of bottle
I've bought pickled ginger that I love, but this was too spicy for me.
Fantastic product, thinly sliced, flavorful. I put it on veggie pizza, on top of crackers with hummus, delicious!
Organic as it may be, sugar is second ingredient. Ginger has good flavor but hard to stomach the sweet.
pickled ginger heaven
I love this product. I'm crazy about ginger & this jar was just about devoured in 2 days. The taste, texture, smell, after taste were all perfect.
Tasty! Wish it had less sugar though:(
I am so happy to find a pickled ginger without all of the added colors and preservatives. This ginger is SO tasty! I eat it right out of the jar. I can't wait to make a rice bowl and add this to the top! I only wish it had less sugar in it.
pickled sushi ginger
A great little bite to add to what's cooking.
The Ginger People
I started using their pickled sushi ginger about a year ago as a substitute for medication for acid reflux relief. It is far superior. It tastes better than the artificial pink stuff. It works faster. And it is heathier. I keep Gin-Gins in the car door pocket for those not-at-home incidents. I've started using their ginger syrup, and ginger juice in cooking. I love The Ginger People products.
I Love this Company and its products!
Yummy, healthy and ready to eat. I just ¨fork it¨ out of the jar whenever my body craves it!
Delicious and sweet!
Love it by itself! I never make sushi at home, nor do I eat it often (mostly because it's expensive and I hate seaweed). This makes a great little palate cleansing sweet treat.
I use this ginger in my Asian meals, so tasty and fresh. I use the leftover juice in salad dressings.
I'm accustomed to raw ginger and the generic pickled ginger that you get when you eat out. This product tastes like neither of those. Very sweet, not tangy or spicy.
A pantry staple. I add it whenever I make chirashi bowls or rice porridge. This is a high quality product.
I love ginger, candied, pickled, fresh, dried for tea, whatever. Having said that, this is a really nice ginger to have on hand when you want a fresher ginger than dried and you don't have any fresh ginger on site. I admit I love to eat this stuff right out of the jar at times.
Better than restaurant sushi
If you're a fan of ginger I highly recommend this. I like to snack on it after lunch. It's got a kick to it as real ginger should, and freshness you can taste.
Bought this for my mom and she says this is the best pickled ginger she's ever had.
Put these in spring rolls and they are awesome - such good flavor.
Organic Pickled Sushi Ginger
This product tastes great, but is laden with sugar. I will not buy it again because too much sugar. If the sugar content were reduced by just over half, this would be a great tasting and healthy choice. But the sugar makes it an unhealthy choice.
Now this is a REAL FIND
Since I love anything ginger, I ordered this and must say, it came as a huge, wonderful surprise. So good as a stand alone or in various recipes. The pear, walnut, ginger mix on top of salad greens was a huge success, which has already been repeated several times. On a 'Seatangle" kelp noodle packet was a recipe for 'Spicy Raw Asian Kelp Noodles' which includes ginger. I have made this numerous times in the past and thus noticed the improvement with this pickled ginger. Try your recipes that include ginger with this yummy treat.
Ginger People: Sushi Ginger
OMG!!! SOOOOOOOOO Good. We need bigger jars. I am going right through a bottle in no time flat. I love that the ingredients are clean.
Fresh and Yummy!!
Pretty delicious!! Very fresh!
I could eat this stuff by the jar-full, no joke. It is fantastic! Way better than the stuff you get at the sushi restaurants.
Expected pickled sushi style ginger. This is syrupy sweet. Will need to find another use for it.
- Thrive User
best price anywhere. we keep this on hand for nausea and headaches but it's delicious too - put it on salads and fish.
I have never seen this sushi ginger in store. I didn't even know it existed in store before finding it here on Thrive. It is extremely affordable at only $2.25 and taste really great in my home made sushi. I don't know what I did before finding this product! Thank you Thrive!
Great for Subs
I am not a fan of sushi, so I don't buy this product for that at all. I buy this Pickled sushi ginger for my subs. It adds a great flavor to my sandwiches. I added some to a friends for them to try one day and they loved it too! I also like to add it to salad on occasion. Tasty!
I really love this sushi ginger. I've tried a couple different brands, and this is one of my favorites. It doesn't have the preservatives or the artificial colors that I keep finding in other brands. I love that my membership to Thrive is going to pay back in the savings alone from this. Not only is it very hard to find locally, but when I drive to the nearest city to get it, they normally charge over $6 a bottle. I love that I can save money while still eating healthy.
- Mykalle R.
Don't even use it for sushi
I eat sushi in restaurants, but I don't make it at home.
The thing I love is the pickled ginger, and not just in sticky rice. I use this ginger as a nice change of pace for salads, sandwiches or even when I want fresh breath after eating lunch. It's a great palate cleanser, and leaves my mouth feeling and tasting aromatic.

Great Sushi ginger
I make a ton of sushi at home, and this natural ginger is as good if not better than the ones I eat at my favorite restaurant.
The ginger is potent, fresh, flavorful and bursting with flavor. There are no additives or chemicals, and no sugar. This is the real thing.
- Ann McCormick
I ate my first jar within a week. So much better than the dyed pink ginger I usually get with my sushi take out.
