About This Brand

Clean, affordable, petroleum-free body lotion. EveryDay Shea is an extension of Alaffia Sustainable Skin Care. Alaffia was founded by Olowo-n’djo Tchala, a Togolese native, as a way to generate funds to conduct community enhancement projects in his home country and other West African nations in order to reduce poverty and gender inequality. Olowo-n’djo believes that Africans can mobilize their natural resources in a sustainable manner to empower their own communities, and that this is a more sustainable avenue towards reducing poverty than waiting for outside aid or for corrupt governments to fall. Alaffia and the Alaffia Shea Butter Cooperative were founded in order to trade the indigenous resource – Shea Butter – in the West to raise proceeds which are then returned to Togo in the form of community projects. EveryDay Shea is a continuation of this philosophy. EveryDay Shea is a value line product that is price-sensitive during this economically difficult time. It provides a...

Reviews For Fair Trade Shea Butter Baby Shampoo and Body Wash

Happy toxicology student

I am about to graduate as a tox/environmental health sciences student at the university. It recently became very important to me to detox my beauty routine, starting with shampoo after learning about the toxic chemicals that fill many drug-store brands.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this shampoo. And yes, I went with the baby shampoo even though I am 22. I checked out other products in this brand and in terms of ingredients (and based on my own research on EWG website), this one seemed to be the cleanest of the clean.

Pros:
-Smells amazing. Clean, pure, lavender/lemon scent that is still detected after showering (but is not too strong).
-Price is right (at least on Thrive). My mantra is you get what you pay for.
-Lathers great on a loofa to double as body wash.
-Hair feels clean for 2+ days. If I skipped a day or two of washing my hair with my old stuff, my hair would look dirty and greasy. Not with this stuff.

"Con":
-Only thing is, expect that your hair will probably have some type of reaction to quitting the bad stuff cold-turkey like I did. The absence of sulfates/foaming agents is something to get used to. I feel like my hair is being cleaned, but you won't have a foam-covered head as you would with, say, Tresemme. And washing out this shampoo will give your hair an "interesting" texture, kind of like straw... That said, this is not a con per se, but something to be aware of. My hair brushes through easily and dries perfectly despite the different washing experience.

I have used it only 3 times so far, so I know my hair will eventually adapt and get used to not having its natural oils chemically stripped each time I wash it. Give this stuff a chance, whether you're buying for your baby or for yourself like I did!

My Favorite Product

This is a great product, at a very decent price and my absolute favorite product from the Everyday Shea line. I use this on both of my girls and it smells great, lathers very well and moisturizes their skin. The only problem I have had with Everyday Shea products are issues with their pumps, I have also contacted the company about this (I am still giving it 5 stars because the product is that amazing)!

My child likes it

It smells good and my child likes it. The only negative, it might be small, is that after not using it for a day the little bit of product that stays behind in the pups gets a bit harder (like a jello) so when you pump next time it comes out and is a bit eeww

- MonPat

Great scent

I love the lavender scent. Just enough aroma to soothe my little one during bath time. The soap doesn't dry out the skin, and it's effective in getting my kiddo clean.

- Chas

Smells yummy

I like this for my kids. I like the smell, and it's gentle.

- HusPumpkin

good as a body wash

We love it as a body wash, but not for a shampoo. Its dries out our hair to much. Love the smell, lathers good. Will buy again.

- Jeness

Smells great!

I wasn't sure I'd love this smell, but it's quite pleasant. Love this brand in general.

Works beautifully

I've been using this shampoo & body wash for my son for over a year now, and I love it. I've tried some other brands and their smell is either too strong or it comes in a tiny bottle for double the price (I was forced to purchase when this was out of stock).

I use 1/4 press of the pump for washing his hair and a full pump for his body. He's a taller than average 5 year old with shoulder length hair - just to give you an idea of how long this product will last you. One bottle lasts us 2 months at our house, taking a shower every other day, or every day during the summer. You can't beat the price for such a large bottle, and I love that it has very few ingredients. It lathers great for us... I use a washcloth with a good texture and plenty of water and it lathers up beautifully. It has a pleasant, soft lavender smell when washing, but I can't smell anything after hair/skin is dried. It leaves his skin soft, that I rarely use lotion afterwards, unless we are having a dry winter.

Good shampoo

I've used this shampoo on two of my kids for quite some time. It works well and is a very clean brand. Great price here on thrive.

- Jessica

Love product but top came broken

I love how my groceries came sealed and protected, but this shampoo particularly pump came broken. I've always had problems with this brand the plastic is fragile. Kids give themselves a bath and can get cut. Disappointed with that.

Healthy shampoo

One review mentioned this doesn't bubble. This is a good thing as there are no toxic foaming agents that may delight your child (and you??) but also harm them.

- Claudine

Works Great!

I love the smell of this shampoo; and it works great! Lathers and rinses well. The conditioner of the same brand and scent didn't leave me as happy unfortunately. But I'm optimistic, and will give this brand more chances.

- Briana

Smells wonderful but thick and doesn't bubble

It's a great brand and smell but I feel like you end up using more than you normally would with another brand. It's very thick and doesn't really lather.

- Alexia

Healthy and Lathers!

I have four kids and this still lasted a long time. I love how healthy it is, and that it is a natural product that actually lathers up enough to be able to use easily!

Great Product Line

I love their entire line of products. I continue to buy their shampoo, conditioner and bubble bath solution for my kids. They love it, and I love the ingredients! Win - win! Smells good too!

- Leah

Love

My daughters and I love this! It smells amazing and is not harsh on the hair or skin. I will continue to buy this!

- Natalie

Love this wash!

We first tried this years ago to accompany the bubble bath. It is gentle yet effective. The lavender is subtle and just enough!! It is great as a shampoo and a bath wash for a little people. Not as great of a shampoo for big people, but lovely body wash for moms too!!

- SPYSED

LOVE it

love this very much, my kids love this as well, I will definitely keep buying this and the conditioner. Going to buy a few more things from this line to try out. Totally recommend this for any parent. Tear free as well does not burn the eyes. I tried it on my face and got it in my eyes on purpose to see if it would burn. Lovely product for newborns and up.

Wonderful!

My daughter and I really love this body wash. Easy on the hair and smells awesome too!
