About This Brand

Sir Kensington's spice chronicles were feared lost until 2008, when Brown University students Scott Norton and Mark Ramadan uncovered them, filed away and forgotten, in the library's special collections. Enchanted by the simplicity of the lost recipes, Scott and Mark vowed to revive ketchup in the Sir Kensington tradition. A great success, the experiment yielded the first of many batches of this rare and exceptional formula. Uncommon, healthful, and painstakingly prepared, it could bear no other name than that of Kensington himself. Today, Sir Kensington's is headquartered in New York City's SoHo district. The company continues its tradition of daring innovation in order to offer its faithful clientele wholesome, delightful alternatives to the status quo. Sir Kensington would be proud.

Why You’ll Love Classic Mayonnaise

When it comes to kitchen condiments in America, some agree that three primary ones stand tallest—ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, and mayonnaise. Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise is a great option for those looking to add a tangy zip to recipes or sandwiches but who still want to follow a healthy diet.

Mayo sometimes gets a bad rap, healthwise. But only when it’s used in excess can it have a negative impacts. Using it in moderation, however, (and using a healthier version like this) can actually provide some benefits to health. Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise allows you to maintain a good diet still getting the great taste that only mayo can provide.

Mayonnaise basics

Understanding some of the basics of mayonnaise is a good way to see why Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise is a great way to enjoy it. Essentially, mayo is an emulsion of egg yolks, oil, and an acidic agent that is usually either lemon juice or vinegar. It’s possible to add herbs and spices to help modify the taste in varying degrees, but the basic recipe is quite simple and uses only those key ingredients.

In terms of usage, mayo is one of the most versatile condiments in the kitchen. It can be used as the basis for remoulades, mixed into tuna salad, potato salad, or coleslaw, and spread onto sandwiches. No matter how it’s used, the unmistakable flavor can enrich almost any food.

The difference Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise brings

Traditional mayo can be delicious, but Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise takes the taste and the overall experience to a different level thanks to the company’s dedication to using natural ingredients and focusing on an organic approach. See the many different elements that set Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise apart from other choices:

  • Instead of olive oil, sunflower oil is used in Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise. This delivers no trans fats and provides an alternative that is healthier for the heart and the cardiovascular system.

  • Free range eggs are also used instead of commercial ones that can contain hormones and inhumane farming practices. This delivers the healthiest possible mayonnaise that not only tastes great, but is better for the body.

  • Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise contains no GMOs. This ensures that every bite of mayonnaise is free from these substances. All ingredients are sourced from trustworthy farmers.

  • There are also no added chemicals or preservatives used in the creation of Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise. Instead, it’s created using all-natural ingredients including lemon juice, mustard seed, water, egg yolks, and sunflower oil.

  • No trans fats are present in the mayo, and it’s also entirely gluten-free. This ensures that it’s easy to enjoy without worrying about the impact it may have on health aspects.

  • Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise is created in the classic French style, using ingredients that help provide a fresh citrus taste that other styles may not contain.

  • This brand of mayo also contains far less salt and sugar in the recipe, and is less-processed. Only steps needed to ensure freshness are taken, and it’s a healthier version of the classic condiment.

Health benefits of mayonnaise

Mayonnaise has a reputation for being unhealthy. But the reality is that today, it’s generally agreed that mayo actually provides several major health benefits, especially when using high quality Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise. Some of the key benefits that mayo can deliver include the following:

  • High levels of omega-3 fatty acids. These are essential building blocks to human health, and the body can’t synthesize them on its own. Omega-3 fatty acids can help with overall mood, circulation, energy levels, brain performance, and much more.

  • Heart health is a big reason to eat more mayo, too. Not only can the omega-3 fatty acids impact the heart, but it can also help provide a big increase to vitamin E levels. This vitamin can help prevent strokes and other similar problems.

Other great condiments to add to the kitchen

While Sir Kensington’s Classic Mayonnaise is a great addition to the kitchen, it’s only one way to add great tastes to favorite snacks and recipes. There are plenty of other condiments worth using as well.

Organicville Yellow Mustard

Rounding out the top three condiments in American kitchens is mustard. This version is made from all natural ingredients, free from GMOs, and sourced organically. It’s a natural version of yellow mustard that goes great on everything.

Annie’s Homegrown Organic Ketchup

Mayo is great, but ketchup is something that finds its way into plenty of recipes and as a topping for plenty of foods. Annie’s Homegrown offers a completely organic, GMO free version that is delicious and free from preservatives.

Organicville Dijon Mustard

The smoother, richer taste of Dijon is what some prefer when it comes to mustard, and Organicville provides a deliciously fresh take on the classic recipe. It's organic, natural, and completely vegan friendly.

Very yummy great price

Definitely a good buy for such a yummy clean product. Hard to beat this one.

- Layla

Good enough to eat with a spoon

This mayonnaise tastes at least as good as homemade. The addition of rosemary and black pepper give it an unexpected but very welcome dimension of flavour. I have used this in salad dressing, grilled cheese, and also slathered on ricecakes (with hemp hearts on top), or toast. It is an awesome accompaniment to avocado toast, and makes for the best tuna salad. I think Sir Kensington's mayonnaise is better than homemade because it lasts longer in the fridge, but isn't made with crappy, toxic ingredients. I will buy this product again and again.

- C.

next best thing to homemade!

I like to make my own mayo, but sometimes I admit to being a tad lazy, so I like to keep this on hand. I go back and forth between my own Avocado Oil mayo and this 'regular', both of which are pretty darn good!

- Victoria

Great Mayo

I love this mayo. I used to only use Duke's, but this is much healthier for you and tastes just as good.

- Kasey

Not a strong mayo taste, but so much better for you

Creamy, rich taste without all of the added ingredients you don't want. Not a strong mayo taste if that is what you are looking for. This is good stuff!

- Diane

Best tasting mayo EVER!

I bought about 5 jars. I love this mayonnaise!

- Joan

Best tasting mayonnaise ever. This is what it's supposed to taste like -- and you don't have to make it yourself. My new "go-to" mayo.

- Lisa

This tastes exactly like my own, which is delicious! Avocado-based mayo is OK, but this is the real deal!!!

- Lin

Too citrusy

This is a decent alternative to all those mayos with soy or canola oil. However, it's a bit too tangy for me. I'll probably get it again until (if I do) find a better taste replacement for Hellman's.

- Margaret

This is the tastiest mayonnaise I have ever had in my life.

- Yana

Best Mayo Ever!

Best ingredients....natural - no preservatives & really creamy flavor.

- Airma

Great taste and texture!

This will definitely be my permanent mayo from now on...the texture is nice and creamy and the taste is amazing!

will be buying again in the near future!

- Joan

Creamy, mellow, just-right rich taste but not TOO rich! This will be my go-to mayo product.

- Roslyn

I've only ever used Hellman's mayo but hate the ingredients. This is one of the best mayos other than the avocado mayos that I have ever tried. I love the avocado mayo that you can buy here at Thrive but it reminds me more of a salad dressing type mayo. This is more of a classic taste. Love it!

- Sandy R

Great product

All their products are great and this saves me time when I do not want to make my own mayo. Can eat it by the spoon so good.

- veronica

I've tried Primal Kitchen and I like it (the first jar was funky, though) but this stuff is amazing. I buy it locally when I haven't made a Thrive order, even though it costs more that way.

- Jesse

Best mayo ever!

I absolutely love this mayonnaise!!

- Dawn

Sir Kensington's Classic Mayonnaise

OMG this is the best! This is what Mayo is supposed to taste like!

- Michele

I got this as a free gift and had it for a while before I tried it-and am I glad I did! I was wowed at the flavor-sublte, but delicious! I like tomato sandwiches with mayo, and I don't think I'll ever enjoy one with regular store bought mayo again!! This really upped the joy!

- Cheryl

I am a mayo snob and was very curious about this. I am thrilled! Yummy!

- Pat

Extremely Satisfied customer

I was looking for a mayonnaise without soybean oil and this is the best tasting mayo I've ever had!

- Helen

Too eggy!

Smells and tastes like eggs. Too strong for me, but others might like that.

- Heather

Approved by daughter;)

My daughter is trying to get me to eat healthier.
This is the 'only' mayo I've tried that I will continue to use!
Healthy isn't always the tastiest, this time, it is.

- Phoebe

Another Sir Kensington Classic that has become a staple in my kitchen for the past two years. Has a rich flavor that tastes homemade.

- Cathy Kornfield

Healthy alternative to store bought!

The only mayonnaise I've come across that doesn't contain soy or canola oil. Has a good flavor and texture.

- kristine

Best Mayo !

My family is very picky about their mayo. It was very hard to replace their old mayo (classic brand that everyone knows). I tried at least 10 different kinds and this by far is their favorite. MY husband even says it is better than "H brand" I know have to stock my parents house, I have even hooked!

- Alison

Best mayo I have ever tasted!

- Travis

Love that this mayo is made with a healthier oil!

- Elisabeth

Great, but lose the sugar!

The taste is really good and for the most part, the ingredients are good. I only wish they would remove the sugar as an ingredient. Mayonnaise traditionally does not have sugar.

- Kelly

Love this mayo

The whole family adores Sir Kensington's mayo!

- Melissa

Best mayo I've ever had.

Hands down this is the freshest tasting mayonnaise I have ever had. Most others are too heavy and oily tasting. This one tastes like you whipped it up in your own kitchen.

- Lisa Kilpatrick

Pretty tasty

I love finding non-GMO mayos! I wish it tasted a little less like Miracle Whip though.

- Carlee

Donna F - Hagerstown, MD

I have been looking for "real" mayonnaise for years and here it is! A simple list of untainted ingredients and a flavor that reminds me of how mayonnaise used to taste; I am delighted with Sir Kensington's.

- Donna Fields

Missing something

I didn't hate this product, but it seemed terribly bland when I mixed it with tuna. I added some lemon juice and lemon balsamic. That helped. I won't order it again.

- Kathleen

Absolute favorite!

Discovered this mayonaise last month when doing my first Whole 30. Of the two that I tried, this was my favorite! I was such a fan I was making guests try it... and it was a hands-down winner. Lifetime purchaser here :D

- Nikki

My family loves this mayo! It tastes so fresh and light. I love the fact that it does not have canola oil!

- Lisa

Sir Kensington mayo

Also bought the chipotle mayo for my husband instead of miricle whip and he mixes the two together so now he is off the miracle whip.

- Susan

So Good

My husband loves Miracle Whip, but I hate using something with so many unhealthy ingredients. I purchased this as a healthy alternative to use on his sandwiches. I used it without telling him and he didn't notice, so he must like it. I love the taste, which has just a little bit of tartness, so it is not bland like some mayonnaise can be. I like that it is not as heavy as regular mayonnaise, but the fact that it is a little thinner may not be appealing to some.

- Sherine

The best mayo ever

Mayo is my favorite condiment, but I used to feel guilty eating it. No more! This stuff is so good and tastes like it's made from scratch. A few reviewers said it tastes like Miracle Whip. I vehemently disagree, since I loathe MW because it tastes like chemicals to me. Sir Kensington's tastes fresh. I don't eat it by the spoonful, but did dip a tortilla chip in it. And then another.... Yummy - but too decadent for me to do too often.

- Maureen

I am so disappointed. I think it has too much of a mustard taste. I am a big fan of grapeseed oil Vegenaise.

This isn't fancy, it's perfect!

This is simply the best-tasting mayo I have ever put in my face! I thought they were exaggerating in the description when they said people sometimes eat it straight. Nope! While I haven't eaten it by the spoonful yet, I would completely understand someone doing so. I used this mayo in place of butter on my toast the other day, and it was glorious!

I'm so glad this site has it in a 16oz! I was having trouble finding it in anything bigger than 10oz, which lasted about a month, tops. This mayo is a little pricier than what you'd usually pull off of the grocery shelf, but is about a thousand times better!

- Maryann Massey

the best mayo AND no soy or canola oil!

I was so excited to find this brand as it's rare to have a mayonnaise without soy or canola oil. I put mayo on just about everything so it is a great all-natural and tasty product for me! It has sunflower seed oil and egg yolks so it has the perfect amount of richness. So good, it's a must try!

- Lola F

Awesome mayo - on par with homemade!

Absolutely THE best mayo I've ever tried--on par with homemade. My wife and I used to make ours from scratch with olive oil, but we were curious to see if there was one out there that we could buy and save time. We decided to try Sir Kensington's because the ingredients were simple and GMO-free. So glad we tried it out. It's fresh, rich, flavorful (but not too strong) and has a delicious creamy texture. Can't wait to try the chipotle and the sriracha versions, and will absolutely re-order.

- J. Phelps

Organic Healthy Oils

This is the only mayo that I eat! I try really hard to stay away from soy and canola oils but, this mayo still has them. The compromise is that they are "organic." Regardless, this one is best on the shelf.

It is by far my favorite sandwich topping. I can put it on all kinds of meat, veggies and fish. Being that I am in a secluded area, shipping it in is the only way- I'd rather not drive 40 miles. If you don't like the classic flavor, try Chipotle!

- Duane Baker

Very Nice

Good ingredients and great flavor! I love this stuff with some light mustard sause.

- Duane

Auntie Gigi

OMG! I thought I had been transported back into my Grandmother's kitchen and was sampling her homemade mayo! This stuff is awesome! Just what I have been searching for (I almost did not want to leave a review for fear that everyone would buy it and there would not be any left for my next purchase).

- Ann

My sandwiches are happy...

All I have to say is GMO-free mayo. Can I get an amen?

- Carlee

Just like Miracle Whip

If you like Miracle Whip this is for you!

- Susannah

NOT mayo

This is more like a miracle whip... Definitely has a sweet taste that is NOT like regular mayonnaise! If you like miracle whip then this is good for you - but not if you are looking for traditional mayo.

- Meghan

SO delicious !

I've tried the regular brands and even Duke's. Sir Kensington is really the best. I won't buy the others if I can get this.
