This treat has the sweet and salty thing nailed, and couldn’t be easier to make. Start by pouring a box of crackers onto a sheet tray, then swirl butter and maple syrup together until it transforms into a rich caramel sauce. Just like that, a gluten-free holiday nibble is ready for the party! Serve it with coffee post-dinner, bring the bites along to a potluck, or keep the whole batch for yourself.
Yield: 6 to 8 servings
Active Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
1 box Simple Mills Fine Ground Sea Salt Almond Flour Crackers
2 sticks unsalted butter
1 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon flaky sea salt
Line a small cookie sheet with a silicone mat and arrange cookies on the tray in a single layer. Melt butter and maple syrup in a tall-sided saucepan over medium-high heat. Simmer, stirring frequently, to keep the liquid from boiling over. Cook for 10 to 20 minutes, until the mixture turns a dark amber color and is the consistency of caramel. Quickly pour it over the crackers and spread with a spatula, if necessary. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Let cool so the caramel hardens, then break into large pieces before serving.
