About This Brand

Super-premium, organic and Fair Trade Certified teas and herbal teasans. After spending many years apart traveling the world and pursuing interests in art, brother and sister Ahmed and Reem Rahim met up during a family vacation to the Grand Canyon and discussed starting a tea business. Ahmed had been living abroad and had owned and operated teahouses in Europe while Reem had been studying art in Northern California. They wanted to create an entity that would encompass both of their passions. In 1999, after observing that competing brands in the U.S. tea market differed little from one another in quality, consistency, and selection, Numi was created in a tiny 750 sq/ft apt in Oakland, CA. Inspired by art and exotic teas, Reem and Ahmed created a company whose hallmark is super-premium, organic and Fair Trade Certified teas and herbal teasans made with 100% real ingredients. We named our company Numi after the Middle Eastern dried lime teasan that we drank as children in Iraq....

Pretty good for tea ;)

I've never been a tea drinker but I've recently decided to give up sugar and I ordered this to help with cravings while I also give up diet soda. I add a splash of cream and some liquid stevia drops and it's pretty good. I'm sure if you're a tea drinker already you'll love this tea.

Oh Boy Do I Love This Tea!

I add some honey and Sweet Leaf Stevia to it and what a tasty treat! I started out as a soda drinker, switched to coffee drinker, but now drinking tea since it is easier on my stomach and very good for my health. I just love this particular tea. The spices are so wonderful tasting in this tea. They really come out with the honey and Stevia.

- Leah

Chocolate tea? Yes, please.

The chocolate is subtle, but there. I love the flavors in this tea. I usually have it after dinner and enjoy it plain or with a little almond milk.

- Cynthia

A new favorite!

This tea has become one of my favorite beverages! I love the smooth, mellow flavor, and it combines hints of chocolate, cinnamon and orange just perfectly. The only thing I don't like is that I can't find it in most stores. I'm thrilled to find it here at the Thrive Market!

Love Love Love this tea

I don't know if it really works as a medicinal or not, but that's what the fermentation craze is all about, right? But either way it's organic and delicious, with the cocoa creating a really tactile experience, velvety indeed! So so good, like a dessert thanks to it's heavy mouthfeel. It has a bit of a funk to the smell, I suppose that's the fermentation part of it, but it's not evident in the taste. I highly recommentd giving this a try, it's my new favorite tea!

- Stacey

love this tea

My new favorite tea! I love it. Other reviewers said that it doesn't taste like chocolate, but I think it has just enough. I don't want hot chocolate, I want tea! The slight hint of cocoa and other spices are just delightful in my opinion.

- Brandy

I have enjoyed very rich chocolate teas before and this is not rich. I used three tea bags for one cup and still found the flavor pretty bland. I wish there had been a more critical review for this tea. The flavor is mild.

- Sarah

Good tea, but not chocolate

This is a very good tea, it has some good cinnamon and orange notes but I taste no chocolate flavor at all. If it wasn't advertised as having chocolate notes it would be a 5 star review, but the stars are based on what it's supposed to be.

Rich and mellow tea. I love it!

This is my favorite tea. It is rich and mellow and helped me seamlessly kick my 2 latte per day addiction. It must be popular because I can rarely find it in stores but am able to order from Thrive at a great price and always have it on hand. Thank you Thrive!

- Virginia

Love this!

This is a great way to sneak a little chocolate into my morning. I serve it with a little raw honey and some coconut cream.

Numi tea is so yummy.

This tea is so good. I gave two bags to a friend and she loved it too and ordered her own. Price here is better than anywhere else I have found it.

- Jodi

tastes and smells great

Love this tea. I drink it at night and it just helps me to relax.

- Doris

Every morning!

My favorite tea, have it every morning with my husband. We add honey and homemade almond milk. This tea is the reason I joined Thrive, of course I've found lots more to love as well!

- Brenda

Not a "true chocolate" taste if you are having a hankering, but a great treat and taste nonetheless. I'm glad I tried it and will be drinking!

- Stella

Simply delicious

I am an avid tea drinker. From herbal to white to green to black, I love it all depending on my meal and mood. This tea is my FAVORITE. It's like a brownie in a cup. Seriously. Buy this tea. Buy LOTS of this tea!!

I really enjoy this tea. It is one of my favorites. It has great flavor and the hint of citrus in it is amazing. I could drink it all day long.

Could use Stronger Chocolate

I love the concept behind this tea, I just wish that the chocolate was stronger than it is. It has a different flavor and depth than other teas have, but it's in a good way. I really like it!

- Pariah

Weak flavor

Did not satisfy my chocolate tooth at all.

First taste of chocolate tea

I was so ready to try this tea, because I've never had chocolate tea in my life. This is really a different and wonderful flavor of tea that I couldn't have imagined existed. It's made from organic cocoa powder, chocolate cocoa nibs, orange peel, citrus and a few other things. It's such a unique and strong flavor, and I don't put any sugar in my cups, just enjoy the rich taste of the tea by itself or with a cookie or cake.

- Dave Long

Surprisingly Delicious!

This is the first time I have ever seen chocolate tea. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was. I got this and drank my first cup and instantly fell in love. It was amazing! It had a rich chocolate flavor with a hint of citrus that added just a special tone to it. I also like to occasionally stir my tea with a candy cane and let that melt in and have a chocolate peppermint tea. It is to die for!

Chocolate tea = surprisingly good

While chocolate tea doesn't taste like hot chocolate, it does have a deep, rich, cocoa flavor that doesn't need any cream or sugar to be tasty. It's great as a cup of tea after dinner, or even first thing in the morning!
