Whip up a few of these recipes and start the summer with smooth, supple skin. Better yet, make an extra large batch and share your homemade spa with friends!
Don’t throw those coffee grounds away the next time you make your morning brew. The fine, caffeinated granules—when mixed with other natural ingredients—work as a skin tightener that may help temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite.
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup coffee grounds
1 or 2 teaspoons of olive oil (depending on the consistency you want)
In a mixing bowl, combine coconut oil and coffee grounds. Stir in olive oil until you achieve the desired consistency and scoop into glass jar.
Stressful day? Pamper tired feet and hands with a scrub infused with the relaxing scent of lavender. The Epsom salts help relieve tension and soothe aching muscles, too.
2 cups Epsom salts
1 cup oil of choice (olive, almond, coconut)
20-30 drops of lavender oil
Pour the Epsom salt into a bowl and add oil of choice. Add lavender oil until you get the scent you want. Store in an airtight glass jar.
This bright, citrusy scrub exfoliates and gives your skin a beautiful glow, thanks to the skin-brightening properties of the vitamin C in the lemon juice.
2 cups coarse sea salt
1 cup oil of choice (olive, almond, coconut)
¼ cup lemon juice
Mix the sea salt and oil into a mixing bowl. Add in lemon juice and stir until you get the desired consistency. Store in airtight glass jar and keep in refrigerator.
This scrub is good enough to eat! The almonds exfoliate and provide moisture, while the cocoa gives the skin an antioxidant kick.
2 cups almond meal
1 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup cocoa powder
Combine almond meal and cocoa powder in bowl. Mix in coconut oil until the desired consistency is achieved. Pour into airtight glass jar and store in the refrigerator.
The exhilarating scent of peppermint wakes up your senses, while the coconut oil moisturizes.
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup coconut oil
20-30 drops peppermint oil
Pour the sugar into a bowl and stir in coconut oil. Add peppermint oil until you reach the desired level of minty goodness. Store in an airtight glass jar.
Oatmeal is great for soothing skin, reducing redness and inflammation.
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup oil coconut oil
Combine rolled oats and coconut oil in bowl and store in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Note: You can add in more oats to create a thicker scrub, or more oil if you’d rather create a paste you can easily spread on your skin.
