Good grief, it is difficult to keep one’s beauty game on point during the summer. If it’s not summer storms, then it’s face-melting heat, or it’s hair-destroying humidity. How is it possible for the weather to wreak such havoc on our appearances?
Human beings shouldn’t have to walk around looking like melted popsicles all the time. So how can we combat the heat? My go-to is a cooling facial spray that helps keep my face dewy and refreshed.
This spray is perfect as a toner, or as a pick-me-up throughout the day when you start to feel overheated. Use it after you wash your face and before you begin your regular makeup routine. Spray some on or rub it in with some cotton (like you would a toner) to nourish your face and keep your skin hydrated. The rose water will help heal scars, strengthen skin cells, ease stress and anxiety, and soothe. The witch hazel will help relieve acne, de-puff your under-eye bags, and lock in moisture.
If you have problems with eczema and psoriasis, this toner will also help ease and relieve your symptoms. I also like to add a couple drops of tea tree oil and vitamin E oil to help boost those acne-fighting and skin-healing powers!
1/4 cup of witch hazel
1/4 cup of rose water
1/2 cup of water
3 drops of tea tree oil
3 drops vitamin E oil
1 glass spray bottle (It doesn’t necessarily have to be spray, but I find you waste less when you don’t have to soak a cotton ball and can spray directly on your face!)
Mix all the ingredients in the glass bottle, give it a shake, and spritz away. You can even put a little extra in a small vial and keep it in your purse for when you’re out and about and need to have a quick refresher. Pro tip: It’s especially cooling if you keep it in the fridge!
