Tip of the Week: A Simple Solution to Silence Squeaky Shoes

That exhilarating feeling of finding the ultimate heels—there's nothing like it. Pair them with a pair of jeans that fit like a glove, a brand new top, and you exude confidence traipsing through the office...until those shoes start squeaking. And halfway through the day, they just won't quit.

Don't let an inopportune noise ruin a sophisticated sartorial moment. A dash of baby powder, baking powder, or cornstarch will quiet the noise of squeaky shoes.

Those annoying squeaks are often caused by moisture or air trapped between the insole and the sole. Stop the squeaks by sprinkling any of these powders onto the part of the shoe that the noise is coming from. If you find any air bubbles, gently massage the powder into them. You'll look smooth and be strutting with a quiet confidence in no time flat.
