Treat your four-legged friend to raw “pupcakes,” a perfectly woof-worthy snack! Sweet potato, milk, and peanut butter help bind the cakes, and Fido will lick up the yogurt frosting faster than you can say “sit.” (We know this thanks to some furry and eager Thrive Market taste-testers!) Even though these morsels are made with dog food, don’t serve them as a meal replacement, just a special treat when you wanna show them how much you care.
Yield: 5 pupcakes
Active Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 2 hours and 15 minutes
For the cakes:
1 ½ cups I and Love and You Naked Essentials Chicken & Duck Dog Kibble
½ cup sweet potato purée
¼ cup milk
2 tablespoons peanut butter
For the frosting:
¼ cup Greek-style yogurt, drained
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
Make the cakes:
Add kibble to a food processor and pulse a few times. Add sweet potato, milk, and peanut butter; process until smooth. Use a ¼ cup scoop and use your fingers or the back of a spoon to pack mixture into the cup. Gently shake out and place on a sheet tray. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour, or until firm.
Make the frosting:
Whisk yogurt, peanut butter, and oil in a small bowl. Spread each pupcake with a spoonful of frosting, then serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Feeding notes: Be sure to monitor your dog when giving them a pupcake. Breaking it up into pieces will help ensure they don’t inhale it too quickly!
