How To Smash Garlic

Last Update: March 9, 2020

How many amazing meals start with sautéed garlic? More than we can count.

But chopping all of that garlic can get annoying, and can leave your hands smelling pungent for hours. So use this handy shortcut when you’re cooking up a garlicky feast.

Bypass chopping altogether by smashing peeled garlic cloves in a resealable bag with the flat side of a knife. If you use enough force, you’ll be amazed at how the cloves disintegrate, leaving you with lovely little pieces for your dish.
