If eyes are the window to the soul, then lips are the window to the heart. Whether flashing a smile or heartbreaking pout, that mouth of yours speaks volumes without even saying a word.
Pucker up and try this pepperminty DIY lip balm that will soften your kisser and melt your little heart. With only four ingredients, there’s no need to worry about parabens or artificial fragrances getting anywhere close to those delicate lips of yours.
1/4 cup almond oil
1/4 cup shea butter
1/4 cup beeswax
Peppermint oil
Pour almond oil and shea butter into a double boiler or heat-resistant glass bowl or measuring cup, and melt the mixture over low boiling water, about three to four minutes. Then add beeswax.
Once it’s all melted, take a spoon, give the mixture a quick stir, and remove the spoon to let some of the liquid on it solidify. After a few seconds, check the texture of the balm on the spoon—to make it firmer, add more beeswax, and for a silkier feel, add more almond oil.
Take the mixture off the heat and let cool for a few seconds, then add about 10 drops peppermint oil or essential oil of your choice. Stir mixture.
Pour into lip balm roller tubes or small pots and let cool to solidify, about five to ten minutes.
This recipe makes about 20 or 30 lip balms, so pass them around to your friends—lovely lips all around!
