A crisp slice of bacon alongside your scramble or shortstack might be the perfect breakfast. But when you add a few sweet and spicy ingredients like maple syrup, paprika, and cinnamon, bacon gets even better! This candied version pairs perfectly with your favorite cocktails—just dunk a piece into a Bloody Mary, or garnish an Old Fashioned.
Yield: 5 servings
Active Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
10 slices smoked bacon
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg
3 tablespoons maple syrup
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a resealable bag, add paprika, cinnamon, and nutmeg; toss until combined. Add bacon slices, massaging until bacon is coated. Arrange bacon in a single layer on baking sheet. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until bacon begins to brown.
Remove pan from the oven and drizzle bacon slices with maple syrup. Return to oven for another 3 to 5 minutes, until the bacon is fully cooked and crispy. Remove and transfer to plate lined with paper towel (to help absorb excess grease). Serve warm with breakfast, or alongside your favorite cocktail.
