From Cleansers to Creams, This Natural Beauty Brand Puts the Planet First

Last Update: July 20, 2023

Seed Phytonutrients is a newcomer in the natural beauty industry—it launched in 2017 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania—but this brand is already challenging the status quo of what’s possible when it comes to bringing better-for-you (and the planet) hair cleansers, creams, oils, and balms to the marketplace. Built around four pillars—the team calls them obsessions—Seed Phytonutrients focuses on the details in everything from ingredients to packaging.

Preserving seed diversity

In 2011, National Geographic reported that in the past century, 94% of seed varieties have been lost due to many factors, including over-commercialization. Saving seeds helps cultivate plant diversity and protect them from pests. To do its part, Seed Phytonutrients is helping save the seeds we have left, and partners with the Hudson Valley Seed Company to add a special surprise inside every paper bottle. Once the product runs out, crack open the bottle to find a packet of heirloom herb seeds ready to plant!

Promoting natural beauty

Seed Phytonutrients believes natural beauty is synonymous with healthy living, and that how you look is far less important than how you feel. That’s why it’s important to be mindful about what you choose to put into and onto your body.

Supporting organic farms and farmers

Every product starts at the farm. Seed Phytonutrients so passionate about helping American farmers keep their way of life that it pays for the entire crop up-front, regardless of yield. This allows farmers to reinvest in the land, plan for future harvests, and builds strong relationships.

Leading environmental sustainability

Every day, Seed Phytonutrients helps make the beauty industry more sustainable by using unique, shower-friendly paper bottles. The packaging is made of 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper (aka cardboard boxes), with a post-consumer plastic liner, and treated with a blend of clay-extracted minerals. The result? About 60 percent less plastic than a traditional bottle.
