Why Hemp’s Making Headlines This Week

Last Update: July 20, 2023

Once and for all: Hemp isn’t pot, and it can’t get you high. So save your stoner jokes and get ready to worship at the alter of one of nature’s most versatile plants.

Yes, hemp is a cousin of marijuana, but it has little relation to mary jane. Both come from the cannabis family of plants, but hemp has only minuscule amounts of THC.

Hemp is actually pretty amazing, though, and we’re excited to celebrate it as part of Hemp History Week. You can eat hemp seeds as a cereal or granola, add hemp protein powder to a shake, or use hemp oil in your natural beauty routine.

Plus, hemp is a super sustainable plant and is naturally resistant to pests (meaning farmers don’t need to coat it in pesticides). It’s good for farmers, good for the environment, and good for your body—what’s not to like?

If you still don’t know where to start, check out a few of our favorite hemp products. You’ll be converted in no time!

1. Navitas Organics Shelled Hemp Seeds
2. Pacific Foods Non-GMO Hemp Beverage
3. Nutiva Organic Cold-Pressed Hemp Oil
4. Manitoba Harvest Hemp Protein Powder
5. Nubian Indian Hemp and Haitian Vetiver Bar Soap
