Swishing oil around your mouth for optimal oral health? Sounds kind of nuts when you think about it, but what worked for the ancients has become a modern phenomenon. Who can resist a novel ritual that seems to magically work?
In ancient Ayurvedic medicine, practitioners of oil pulling believed it could detox the mouth, gums, and tongue. With disciplined use, this practice could even freshen breath and strengthen teeth and jaws. Traditionally, they used antimicrobial sesame oil, but today's oil pulling champion is—you guessed it—coconut oil. Why? Because it's also powerfully antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal—and it tastes pretty yummy. (And if it's gonna be all up in your mouth, then hopefully it at least tastes good!)
So do you want a brighter, whiter smile, fresher breath, a healthy tongue free of soft plaque, and an overall cleaner mouth? Then give it a shot! Wellness coach Jennifer Partridge shows you how in this quick, riveting video. All you need is a little bit of coconut oil and 20 minutes each morning—kill two birds with one stone and do it while showering or whipping up breakfast. Partridge even adds a special ingredient for an added immunity boost.
We dare you to try it for at least two weeks—and let us know your results in the comments below!
