Quick Breakfast Ideas to Jump-Start Your Day

Last Update: June 22, 2023

I’m always running out the door at the last minute, and I never have time to make myself a full breakfast. Do you have any simple and healthy on-the-go breakfast ideas?

You always hear that breakfast is the most important meal of the day,  but lately,  some research has suggested it might not be that important to overall health. What to do? If you love breakfast and feel like it helps you prepare to take on your day, then go for it—and try a few of my favorite quick and easy breakfasts.

When you’re deciding what to eat for breakfast, aim for healthy proteins and fats to maintain an even blood sugar level over the course of your morning. (They’ll also help you feel full over a longer span of time than simple carbs like cereal.)

Don’t feel like cooking in the morning? Use leftovers. I’m a big fan of using up leftover meals, and adding a little breakfast twist. If I have some quinoa salad, I often add an over-easy egg and fresh vegetables into the mix. I always recommend eating eggs with a runny yolk, as this yields a higher nutritional value. If runny eggs aren’t your thing, you could try a quick quinoa porridge by adding nuts, cinnamon, and almond milk to pre-cooked quinoa.

When you’re in a rush, smoothies are always an excellent choice. You can pack in so many beneficial ingredients into a manageable portion, and even drink it on your commute. An easy recipe full of healthy proteins and fats: almond milk, spinach, hemp protein powder, flax seeds and/or chia seeds, XCT oil or coconut oil, a banana or 100% pure stevia to sweeten.

Another favorite of mine is my raw coconut yogurt kefir and a nut crumble. This is my kind of yogurt (dairy-free) and it provides a probiotic kicks start to my day, improving digestion and overall immunity. Anytime I can incorporate fermented foods into my breakfast (or any meal for that matter!), I jump on the opportunity.

Not a breakfast person? Don’t stress too much about it and eat when you’re hungry. Always listen to what your body needs—we’re all different, after all! If you’re fine with just a simple cup of coffee or a glass of water with lemon in the morning, then go for it.
