Meet your new favorite warm-weather cocktail: a refreshing coconut-lime margarita with velvety texture and a garnish of coconut-infused sea salt. You can practically hear the ocean waves lapping the shore in the background with just one sip…
Three forms of coconut—refreshing coconut water, creamy coconut milk, and crushed coconut chips—give this easy five-minute recipe a tropical twist. Swapping the usual sugary mix for simple, real-food ingredients allows the tequila’s agave flavor to really shine.
Yield: 1 margarita
Active Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
For the garnish:
1 to 2 tablespoons Thrive Market Organic Coconut Chips, finely crushed
1 tablespoon sea salt
Fresh lime wedges
For the margarita:
1 ½ to 3 ounces (1 to 2 shots) tequila blanco
1 cup Thrive Market Organic Coconut Water
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon liquid sweetener like coconut nectar or agave (optional)
Splash of Thrive Market Organic Coconut Milk (optional)
Ice
Prepare the glass
On a cutting board, finely crush coconut chips with the bottom of a glass. Mix in sea salt and lay the mixture out in a circle just slightly larger than the rim of the glass. Run lime wedge along the rim and dip it into coconut-salt mixture. Set aside.
Mix the cocktail
Fill a cocktail shaker or Mason jar with ice. Add tequila, coconut water, and in lime juice. Add liquid sweetener and splash of coconut milk, if using. Put lid on and shake for 30 seconds. Strain margarita into the prepared glass and garnish with a lime wedge.
Salud!
