Chocolate Shell Ice-Cream Topping Recipe

August 4th, 2016

Crack. Breaking through the frozen chocolate shell on top of a sundae or biting into a chocolate-dipped soft serve ice cream cone makes the most satisfying sound. Recreate that moment at home with this “magic” chocolate sauce made with just two ingredients: dark chocolate and coconut oil, which hardens as soon as it comes into contact with cold ice cream. Try it as a dip for frozen bananas or homemade ice cream bars, too!

Chocolate Shell Ice-Cream Topping

Yield: 9 servings
Active Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes

7 ounces dark chocolate
2 tablespoons coconut oil

Melt chocolate and coconut oil in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water, stirring occasionally. Spoon it over ice cream or other cold desserts and watch it harden.
