History of oats
Oats are one of the world’s oldest grains and have been used for thousands of years for food, medicinal, and farming purposes.
Research from Iowa State University claims that oats found their way from Europe, where they have long been a major crop, and were first planted off the coast of Massachusetts during colonial America. In fact, President George Washington had around 580 acres of oats on his land.
In the 1800s, the crop moved towards the Mississippi River, which is where most American oats are grown today.
What's the difference between rolled, steel-cut, and instant oats?
There are three main types of oats. In the beginning stages, raw and unprocessed oats are called groats. How they are processed determines what style of oats will eventually be made. Here are the main differences.
Rolled oats are also commonly called old-fashioned or whole oats. They are groats that are steamed to make them soft and malleable. They are then rolled over with a rolling pin and pressed down to flatten. Once that part is complete, rolled oats are texturized and look like irregularly-shaped ovals.
They cook slightly faster than steel-cut oats and maintain their shape during cooking by absorbing more liquid, which makes them ideal for things like granola bars and oatmeal.
Steel-cut oats are often referred to as Irish or Scottish oats. They are made when the oat groats have been cut up rather than rolled over. As such, steel-cut oats look similar to rice.
They have more of an earthy and toothsome flavor that takes slightly longer to cook than rolled oats. Steel-cut oats are commonly used for things like porridge and stuffing for a turkey dinner. They also make a solid rice alternative. However, because steel-cut oats are so solid, they are less ideal as a replacement for rolled or instant oats.
Instant oats are the most processed of the three styles. That’s because they’ve been pre-cooked then dried out. Once dried, they are rolled and pressed even thinner than rolled oats. One of the benefits is that instant oats cook the fastest, but the trade-off is that they don’t maintain their shape when cooked and frequently come out mushy.
Because they’re both partially prepared the same way, you can use instant oats as a replacement for rolled oats and vice versa.

I use these oats to make overnight oatmeal and man, they do the job well! They have the perfect texture and soak up milk just the way I need them to.

Great Price for Healthy Breakfast
This is the best price I've found! To one cup oatmeal (before cooking) I add a 1/2 tsp turmeric,a pinchof pepper (to activate the turmeric), a pinch of sea salt for the minerals, 1 tsp cinnamon for taste and to help balance blood sugar, 1 tablespoon raw honey, 1 tablespoon collagen, 2 Tablespoons fresh-ground flax seed, 1 T chia seeds, 1/2 Cup of berries.
Different ways of incorporating this
I use this to make homemade granola bars and it's a big hit with my kids, co-workers, and myself. I find most store bought granola bars too sweet for me.
Use them for granola and pressure cooker hot oatmeal in the morning. Everyone is happy.

Oats that taste clean and sweet. I will buy this product again and again. I am hooked on the morning goodness of the mix of fruit, oats, ground golden flax, protein powder and dried papaya, with a couple dobs of yogurt and add almond milk. Yum!

I love these rolled oats as overnight oats. I just mix them with some mashed banana, yogurt, and peanut butter throw them in the fridge and enjoy them when I wake up in the morning. I love that these are tested several times to ensure they are gluten free. I am allergic to gluten so it's a big deal for me. Here on Thrive they are a few dollars cheaper and they ship super fast-it's great.
