We’re pretty wild about any beauty brand that smells amazing and skips the chemicals in favor of plant-based ingredients. If you’re in the same camp, check out Indigo Wild. This company is based in the Midwest and is pretty obsessive about offering nontoxic products (such as liquid laundry soap, facial toners, and bar soaps) while adding aromatherapy benefits, too. The origin story of aromatherapy dates back to ancient times—there’s written evidence from clay slabs that shows medicinal plants were in use approximately 5,000 years ago. But what we understand as aromatherapy today was coined in the 1930s by a French chemist named René-Maurice Gattefossé. In addition to making sure your home is filled with good-for-you formulas, Indigo Wild relies on essential oils to transform your daily routines into something extra special.

The History of Indigo Wild

Founder Emily Voth first developed her original Zum Bar in her home kitchen in 1996. After the soap bar became a success, she moved on to other bath, skin, and home products, including lotions, lip balms, bath salts, candles, liquid soaps, massage oils, and more. Eventually, operations moved into the factory in Kansas City, Missouri, where the headquarters remain today.

Indigo Wild Company Mission

Indigo Wild makes natural beauty and home products that, according to the brand, are loaded with “only the best good juju.” Translation: the products have enough essential oils to be considered aromatherapeutic, and are made with nontoxic ingredients like coconut oil, jojoba oil, beeswax, shea butter, and more. The brand also supports local charities in Kansas City, such as Back in the Swing, Sheltie Rescue, and Turning Point: The Center for Hope and Healing.

Benefits of Indigo Wild

Skipping nontoxic ingredients (while still cleaning your clothes and pampering your face and body) is one of the best reasons to choose a brand like Indigo Wild. The brand seeks out organic ingredients whenever possible, and is free from additives, dyes, and colors. Here’s some of the feedback straight from Thrive Market members!
