With more than 9 million tons of plastic waste ending up in the ocean each year, it’s essential that everyone makes an effort to reduce their consumption. But where should you start? Brands like LastObject know how overwhelming it can be to transition to a plastic-free lifestyle, which is why they’re making it simple (and even elegant) using Dutch design and smart materials that won’t cause more harm.
LastObject was founded in 2018 by designer Isabel Aagaard. Frustrated by so much single-use plastic in her life, she used her training to develop innovative solutions—like reusable cotton swabs—to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. What started as a successful Kickstarter campaign has since grown into a global movement, and every product is developed, prototyped, and perfected in Copenhagen, Denmark.
With Danish design and sustainable materials, LastObject wants to help eliminate single-use plastic from our planet. Their reusable alternatives make it easy to go green at home or on the go.
Not only do their reusable products work, but the brand’s sustainability efforts are extra impressive.
Try these easy swaps for a more eco-friendly routine.
It might be tiny, but this reusable cotton swab eliminates up to 1,000 single-use versions. After use, just wash with soap and water before popping it back in the case. Thrive Market member John from Utah says “I will never buy swabs again!”
Swap traditional makeup pads for LastObject’s alternative made with a shape-shifting and compostable fabric. The soft material softens when wet and eliminates 1,750 single-use cotton rounds. Juleanna from Massachusetts says “These are an amazing replacement to the wasteful disposal cotton rounds. They are more sturdy and very effective in removing makeup.”
Washable and reusable, these 6 tissues can each be used up to 500 times, and the unique silicone case keeps clean and used cloths separated until everything is ready for a rinse. Danielle from Maine shares “the tissues are made out of quality fabric that feels gentle. The moveable separator between used and clean tissues is super helpful. I definitely recommend this product!”

When it came to developing our line of household cleaners, two things were essential: knowing that the products work (so you never have to scrub twice), and trusting that the ingredients are safe for you and your family.
