If you check the label on the average supermarket snack these days, there’s no telling what you’ll find inside. Questionable ingredients (and a long list of them at that) are often listed on the side of the box and aren’t pulling their weight when it comes to offering nutritious options for post-game treats, after-school munchies, pre-workout fuel, travel-day sustenance, or any other time you need a quick and easy snack at the ready. Enter, Thrive Market. Our digital snack aisle is filled with everything you need to pile your pantry high with foods you and your family will not only love to eat, but are better than conventional options, too.
The History of Natierra
Natierra was founded by Thierry Ollivier, who worked with local communities in Haiti to source organic and fair trade mangoes. When Ollivier learned that many Hatian women and children experienced stomach pains because they couldn’t afford enough food to eat, he refocused the company to not only source ethical ingredients, but to create more jobs for the Hatian people. Over the years, Natierra has ramped up its own philanthropy (more on that below) and entered into partnerships with other organizations with similar missions.
Natierra Company Mission
Natierra’s mission is offering “superfoods with soul.” Through sustainable business practices, Natierra not only offers organic, fair trade products, but every time you buy a bag, the company gives one nutritious meal to a child in need.
Benefits of Natierra
Besides offering a line of wholesome foods, Natierra has made a big commitment to philanthropy. Its Feed a Soul Project encompasses three key initiatives: the Buy One, Feed One Child Initiative, the Andes Back to School Program, and membership in the 1% For The Planet Association. Here’s a closer look:
- Buy One, Feed One: When you buy a bag from Natierra, it donates one meal to a Hatian child in need through its partner, Convoy of Hope.
- Andes Back to School Program: This program provides school supplies like notebooks, uniforms, and textbooks to children of salt harvesters in South America. The initiative was inspired by a sourcing trip when the founder saw first-hand the challenges local children faced in attending school.
- 1% For the Planet: An additional 1% of profits from InkaSalt are donated to an association that’s comprised of more than 1,200 companies worldwide. Collectively, they’ve given back more than $150 million to organizations focusing on social and environmental causes.
