The History of Plus Ultra

Plus Ultra was founded by Christina Ramirez. Christina was inspired to act by the ongoing global plastic crisis and wanted to create a product that could help to cut out the amount of plastic that we use. She settled on the company name “Plus Ultra,” which means “further beyond” in Latin.

Today, Plus Ultra toothbrushes are sold in 32 states and through a variety of retailers, including Thrive Market. So far, use of their products has saved more than 1,500 tons of plastic.

Plus Ultra Company Mission

Plus Ultra strives to create a practical product that makes a positive impact on the world. Every part of a Plus Ultra toothbrush is designed with the environment in mind. The handle is made with organically grown and sustainably sourced Moso-bamboo, which has both antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. Each handle is completely biodegradable; when you’re done, just snap off the head and place the handle in your compost. The bristles are made with natural nylon, without the use of dyes. Even the packaging is made from biodegradable paper that’s Forest Stewardship Council certified, and printed on with plant-based ink.

On top of being good for the planet, Plus Ultra products are also good for you. Their brushes are designed to meet dentist recommendations, including BPA-free bristles and a wave-shaped brush head.
