Nothing beats an iced coffee to deliver your caffeine fix on a warm day. But not all iced coffees are created equal. Traditional iced coffee is made by pouring hot brewed coffee over ice. Cold brew skips the heat, steeping coffee grounds in cold water for anywhere between 12 and 24 hours. The result is a smooth, bold, low acid, and highly caffeinated beverage to perk you right up. If cold brew is your jam, check out Wandering Bear, a coffee company that’s elevating what cold brew can look like in your home or office, and innovating its packaging to ensure your drink stays fresher, longer.
The History of Wandering Bear Coffee
Before going into business together, Wandering Bear co-founders Matt Bachmann and Ben Gordon bonded over a shared love of homemade cold brew, which they both made consistently and stored in mason jars. They’ve hired a few more employees since launching Wandering Bear in 2013, but have always stayed true to their original vision of making perfect, ready-made coffee.
Wandering Bear Coffee Company Mission
Wandering Bear coffee has a simple mission: to give you a cafe-style cold brew iced coffee experience at home. The brand likes to say the beverage is not only strong, smooth, and easy to pour, but will help “coax your better half out of hibernation every morning.” Thrive Market member Austin from Ohio is fully convinced. “The coffee is awesome and a great thing to have on tap,” he says. Austin even thinks Wandering Bear is a better option than beer, but we’ll let you be the judge of that.
Benefits of Wandering Bear Coffee
Wandering Bear puts lots of TLC into every batch of cold brew, which translates into a smooth and rich sip that’s never bitter or acidic. This drink has approximately three times the amount of caffeine than a regular cup of coffee, so if you’re looking for a real jolt, this drink might be for you. Also, this brew isn’t a concentrate, which means you don’t need to mix anything or add extra ingredients—just pour and enjoy. In the packaging department, this brand takes cold brew to the next level by storing it in completely recyclable boxes and cartons that protect the beverage from oxygen and light, which are the two culprits that cause coffee to go stale. Wandering Bear sources Fair Trade Certified, organic Arabica beans from central Peru, and its products are paleo, keto, and vegan.
