Is there anything a nut can’t do? Whether they’re crusting fish or masquerading as dairy-free milk, these morsels are powerhouse ingredients in more ways than one. Take almonds. One serving of raw almonds delivers 7g of protein and 4g of dietary fiber, plus calcium and iron. And while we’re all for tossing them in a reusable bag to take as an on-the-go snack, here are some other ways to get creative with nuts of all shapes and sizes.
Woodstock has been around for more than 25 years, and is now owned by United Natural Foods (UNFI), U.S.’s largest wholesale distributor of natural and organic foods. UNFI got its start when founder Michael Funk started selling organic produce out of the back of his Volkswagen van in Northern California. Nut butter was the very first product. Soon after, he created Mountain People’s Warehouse, which steadily grew into one of the Western region’s largest natural food distributors.
It’s always a party at the Woodstock headquarters, because this brand celebrates food that makes you feel good about what you buy, eat, and cook for your family. Nut butter was only the start. Today Woodstock offers more than 250 products. Seventy percent are domestically sourced, and 75 percent are USDA Organic.
Sustainability has been a defining value of Woodstock since the beginning. The brand has always offered organic and non-GMO products in its lineup because it believes real food isn’t just good for our bodies, but good for farmers and the planet as well. Woodstock gives back by donating hundreds of hours in volunteer time to its local communities, and sponsoring several organizations including the Non-GMO Project, Young Farmers Coalition, Food to Bank On, and American Farmland Trust. And everything has to taste good, too. Woodstock’s thick-cut slivered almonds are a customer favorite—Alicia from Ill. uses them for granola, and Hope from Calif. mixes a handful into her morning yogurt.
This is bound to become your new favorite snack.
This 7.5-ounce bag features raw almond slices that are thick-cut for added texture. Each serving delivers 6g of protein and 3g of dietary fiber. Toss them in salads, make a yogurt parfait, or create a crunchy topping for chicken or fish.
Nuts should be in every cook’s repertoire as more than just a wholesome snack. Here are some of our favorite recipes for cooking with nuts.
Pecans are creamy, buttery, and fragrant—and these eight recipes really let them shine. We’re smitten with Maple Pumpkin Pie, Maca Chocolate Bark, and Nutty Cashew Cheese Logs.
Keep dessert simple with this Cranberry Pecan Apple Crumble recipe, which makes the most of the season’s bounty. Your kitchen will smell divine as the sweet apples bake with a granola-inspired crumble on top.
