Why You’ll Love It

This cut comes from southern Italy, specifically from Naples. It has a round section (long, thin round strands) and is between 0.045" and 0.046" thick. The perfect match for this pasta type is a cold or warm fresh tomato, vegetable or herb-based sauce. Also excellent with quickly made sauces, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, chili and anchovies, and fish and shellfish-based sauces.

About This Brand

Bronze drawn, slow dried pasta since 1886. Since 1886 we have liked our pasta to be bronze drawn and slowly dried because we like it to fall into the plate full of taste, rough and always "al dente".Even though our taste has not changed, as we feel the same love for tradition, we have continued to improve our production technologies. The best pasta is made starting from the finest quality ingredients beginning with excellent durum wheat. This is what makes the difference.First of all De Cecco pasta is not made with any kind of wheat, but rather from the best durum wheat, the ones golden like the sun.For De Cecco passion for quality is very tangible. That’s why experts inspect the harvest fields checking the quality of the wheat, which is bound for shipment to the mill (Molino) in Fara San Martino. De Cecco uses only pale yellow grains, which are called colored grains, the same ones that you re-discover in your plate after a laborious process.Upon arrival the wheat goes through lab...

Ok pasta

Buying pasta is a kind of a crapshoot. You really have to buy a lot of brands, before you find the one that kind of matches your taste. De Cecco is ok, and I bought it on Thrive, because it has a good price. But the truth is that this isn't a great pasta, it's just ok. I wouldn't say it stands out that much, it's a decent pasta, but it's nothing that would make you jump out of your seat.

My go to pasta

I used to buy a lot of Ronzoni, but I switched to De Cecco, which I love. It's non GMO, has not fats, is low in sugar and just cooks up perfect each time. I actually buy the entire range of De Cecco pasta, and they're all good, especially the penne rigate and the fusilli. I like the thin spaghetti because it's softer and more tender than the regular spaghetti.

Glad I Found It

I moved to a rural city out in Nebraska this year, and finding some of my favorites has been impossible. I used to have this all the time, but ordering it off the internet (since I can't find it in stores!) was just way, way too expensive. Now it's not. My Thrive membership is easily going to pay off in the savings from just this. I finally can have my beloved pasta again. Thank you so much!

Nice and firm

Finding the right pasta can be difficult. For me, the perfect spaghetti is solid and holds up firm against a meat sauce.

DeCeccos' thin spaghetti cooks up moist and tender, but retains a nice bite. It's awesome for spaghetti and meatballs, but I've also used it in my special soup and it holds up well in that too.

Good pasta even when you over boil

If you're like me, you've had lots of spaghetti that goes mushy if you boil it one minute past the time on the label.

This thin spaghetti doesn't do that. I made a mistake and left it boiling an extra two minutes, and when I drained it, I feared the worst, but it held up really well. Firm and flavorful, great with my clam sauce.
