Not for the faint of heart!
If you're thinking about buying this because you like coconut, you're going to be disappointed --- the chocolate is SUPER strong/bitter and the coconut is basically just a texture thing. If you LOVE dark, dark, bitter chocolate, drink strong espresso like its nobody's business and want a real kick in the taste buds - this is for you! It's extremely bitter, but very high quality and delicious.
If you're looking for coconut and dark chocolate, try eating evolve's original coconut and dark chocolate cups!
Love this bar!
100% chocolate, it is what it says it is, if you are expecting a sweet tasting Hershey bar you will be disappointed. I love 85% and 91% as well, but the coconut on this plus the 100% is amazing, plus the 100% keeps me at 1-2 squares rather than the whole bar. Just enough to curb any craving but too bitter to indulge too much...perfect.
Best guilt-free chocolate
Really nice flavor and always awesome to eat when you know it doesn't have all kinds of sugars and preservatives in it.
Neither chocolate nor coconut flavors comes through.
It is probably a nutrition packed bar, but it leaves out all of the delicious flavor it's name implies. Never again.
It tastes like 100%
It tastes like what it says. I accidentally bought this and poured honey on it in order to eat it. ;)
Even with the other reviews I missed the 100% part. We had gotten the salted caramel version from this brand and loved so I was back to try more. It was a bit much for me. I happily eat 85% and could probably go even more but haven't found any. To make this palatable i dip it in raw honey. Problem solved ;).
Not so much...
I'm a fan of EatingEvolved's other sweetened chocolates, but this one is seriously bitter, essentially cooking chocolate with some coconut texture. Really elemental stuff, if that's what you're looking for. Me, not so much.
Thank you for this wonderful chocolate! Now, this one is a unique product in a market saturated with white sugars. The taste also reminds me of home made 100% tropical cacao. Truly a treat!
Strong & Bitter
This is so strong and bitter. Which is fine if that is what you are looking for. As you know, there is no sweetener in this. I agree with another, you can't taste the coconut at all because the chocolate is overwhelming. I take nibbles of this when I am looking for a chocolate fix but no indulgence of sweetness. Kinda like when I hanker for a shot of espresso. I ordered several of these, and I think I will use a lot most of them melted with a touch of maple syrup as a dessert topping. So I do like that I can adjust it to my sweetness preference, which is fairly low (but hey, I do still like some sugah!). But it is a bit expensive for that. Usually I would just use cacao paste to make my own chocolate.
Good but extremely bitter
This is clearly good quality chocolate, but the coconut doesn't really register at all. It's completely overwhelmed by the bitterness of the chocolate. Not for the faint of heart.
The ultimate dark chocolate lovers treat!
I was so happy to find this 100% dark chocolate. It satisfies my desire for chocolate without having to include sugars or soy lecithins in the mix. Fantastic!
