Why You’ll Love It

These fine, sashimi quality skipjack mackerel, Katsuwonus pelamis, flakes are prepared using a 1,000-year-old method. Mackerel is filleted, steamed, air-dried, aged, and shaved into delicate flakes. Used for the savory flavor, bonito flakes are common in dashi noodle broth, soups, stews, sauces, and wherever savory flavor is desired. These flakes are fat free and very low in sodium.

About This Brand

The oldest natural and organic food company in North America.Eden Foods began in Ann Arbor in the late 1960s with friends sourcing natural food. Youth motivated by a study of a worldwide phenomenon centered upon macrobiotics: eating a diet of whole grain and seasonal local plant foods that are not nutrient depleted and without toxic chemical adulteration.Natural foods were simply not available at the time, so they started the Eden food co-op to bring them in. Love it

I love Bonito flakes in my rice bowl. I add a cup of rice, fried egg, soy sauce, Sriracha, chopped scallions and a quarter cup of bonito flakes. Stir everything up and YUM, enjoy!

- Dorothy

Great Topping

These are large flakes, not little bitty crumbles. Flavor and texture is delicious and pleasing. Yummy on tofu with balsamic dribbled over the top

- Laura

Flavorful!

These bonito flakes are very flavorful. I've made a lot more than expected with the small package. If you're looking to cook more Japanese foods, these are a great choice for making dashi.
